[GS] GS impressions/random observations thread.

propaganda policy still apparently grants -15% less war weariness

war weariness is still in the game, it's warmongering that has been removed. Before Propaganda was -25% war weariness, so this is a nerf it looks like.

Barbarian Scouts are more aggressive. They keep hitting my own Scouts.

A barb scout with 1 HP attacked my half-health archer lol. Maybe they attack if they can't move far?

Definitely not.

They are currently listed like this:

1. GS>RnF>Vanilla
2. Alphabetical order of leader names within each group.

Really, I was like Where TF is Wilfred? Because I scrolled all the way to the bottom lol

17 is an odd number for grievances

Yet in the log...

This is going to be confusing

Just had some time in the morning to create a game. What a bumpy start:
Spoiler :

Eleanor will have ALL the hills. Scouting uncovered plenty more hills in the fog. What's her starting bias, I wonder? Also, four rivers!!!

This will be the longest day at work...

are you sure... was it a random decision then?
I thought they said in a stream ties went to the person who voted with the highest percentage of their favor or something like that? Did you have the least favor?

Tho if that's the case it seems a little odd to do it when everyone just used a free vote.

Mali production bonus seems to have been fixed. My builder takes 50 production. My city production is 8.4. Multiply that by .70 and divide 50 by it and it works out to 8.5. Strangely my game seems to round down to 8 turns instead of up to 9 turns.

Kupe voted for himself (just as everybody else).
Kupe probably had the least favour.
In case of a draw, the highest percentual contribution (as in: used favour/total favour) is taken into account.
(Edit 2: @bbbt: even with only the single, free vote the percental evaluation works - even if it weirdly favors the guy with the least total diplomatic currency ...)

Edit: I am typing too slow.

Up to turn 126 and it just feels sort of the same.
I suppose that is because I play the same way most of the time.
Only 13 cities up. Killed Sweden. Not many grievances yet.
Worst one is the Maori whom I am going to kill now at only -32 grievances.
Golden Age online once again so it was Golden, Normal, Golden.

I haven't felt any problems by chopping just yet.
Perhaps when the Co2 problem kicks in.
Other than that a drought or a flood but nothing that really hurt my lands.
The worst thing was a flood killing one warrior in the early game.

LOL in the last vote I voted against my tobacco by mistake.
That's what I get for not caring.

The only major difference I notice is the AI seems weaker in the military department.
Reminds me of Civ Rev 2 on my I-phone where you have bombers fighting warriors.
This game Sweden had 3 Pikes, 3 Chariots, 2 Archers, 2 Warriors when I invaded.
Surprised only Warriors and Archers after turn 100 for the AI.

I definately had a lot of favour... but a lot of grievances

WRT Maori War....
Even my grossbows get free landing rights making naval invasions AWESOME

This is interesting too.
I denounced the Maori about 7 turns ago.
I am about to Declare War.
I decided to look at trade relations.
England wanted 40 gpt for one artwork.

However, The Maori will give me Art for 16gpt per turn.
I am not going to trade but it seems off.

these are starting to annoy me

And one suspects the warmongers amongst uyp will now complain they get too many grievances against them... this is after taking out a civ in the classical era and is what Gorgo thinks of me... they ssical period!

Yeah too bad I prematurely celebrated this news:
  • AI now simplifies/focuses trade deals when requesting trades, rather than asking/offering a smorgasbord of items.

I like Railroads, but I don't like the way railroad tiles are presented in GS.
- Cities and districts near a railroad tile seem to count like railroad tiles, too, but in normal view the railroad does not run through them but stops outside. This looks strange. When a railroad runs through multiple districts, it is hard to tell where the railroad is unless you switch to the strategic view.
- Railroad tries to connect tiles which have only a road. This causes additional railroad segments to be painted and may result in a confusing outline. This is ok when a railroad tile does not have any railroad tile neighbour, but when there are districts etc. which count as railroad, the railroad should connect them instead of connecting road tiles. (See the war machine scenario for numerous examples)

At the moment when you want to see your railway network, you need to use the strategic view.
