Gurid

I believe only Gurid has Banana affinity in normal FfH, but I have it to Margalard too.

That doesn't really seem right for Xien though, and I was thinking he be the scariest of the beasts (because he is the fastest and spawns lesser wolves). Maybe he should get Deer affinity or something.

I think the Xien wolf, should be immune to magic, get +10000 Creation and Metamagic Affinity, +20000 Dimentional affinity, +10000 Mind Affinity and +1000 Spirit affinity.
He should also get a unique spell, "Blast Bug". It would force any enraged units in range to become calm and form themselves into Asserted Stacks, to ensure they will never get enraged again...:D

I think that's a bit much.

I don't believe the game actually allows strengths that high. It seems to cut off a unit's base strength at 100, although I've seen promotion raise it a little above that.

Creation affinity may be quite appropriate, but I think he strays too far from canonical lore to deserve Metamagic and Mind doesn't fit someone who doesn't demand payment for his work.

I don't want the unit to be an actual avatar of Xienwolf or anything, so his abilities should be things that a Giant Wolf could conceivably do.

Tempted to what, exactly?

Not sure if you're aware, but according to the civilopedia in FF, Gurid already has "+1 affinity for banana"

Fall From Heaven did that. Started as a joke, Kael found it really funny and did it... and thus we have monkeys with banana affinity. :D

Ah - I had missed that. Odds are I wouldn't have been able to resist it either :D

Metamagic->The ability to manipulate the properties of the actual essense of Magic(My definition, Sorry if it does not fit Erebus' lore ;))
Mind-> The ability to use the mental powers in order to produce results(matter/control/etc) from pure mental energy(Again, my definition, not necessarily abiding to the lore)

Of course you don't. My post was a semi-humurous, in the spirit of kenken244's post, but with properties I deemed more apropriate.
No offence meant to anyone.

Luckily, Margalard doesn't.

Perhaps you could add it to him, too

And Xienwolf with Creation mana affinity sounds like an awesome idea. I'd make it +3 affinity, personally.

A thought.

Rather than being tied to events, how about making these creatures synergistic with nature's revolt. Ie, building it would cause them all to spawn in the world. Preferably in thematically appropriate locations outside of any civ's territory. But inside territory if need be.
They would be part of the Animal civ, and so the builder of NR would be ignored by them, but otherwise, you'd have several large powerful beasts roaming the world at random, breaking stuff. Unitcombat Beast, of course. So, capturable by beastmasters.

It could be a neat dynamic, and I think it would really add a lot of fun personally. Give the same sort of feeling that the arrival of the horsemen does.

I think I like that idea.

I think I'll make it that way in my version, but also leave the events in. Either way they can only spawn if no such unit had been created yet.

I should actually get an Affinity for Python Errors. Each time one pops up with "Unidentified C++ Error!" as the final answer, I gain 5 strength ;)

Really whatever anyone does is up to them and a cute touch. If I were to slap my personal seal of approval on a final design it would have to be fairly needlessly complex, but pretty damn cool in the end. But I can't think of much along those lines right now which would be fun, and not broken.

Pretty fun toy.

I've had him pop twice.

Once I happened to have a fairly well ranked up Ranger with the subdue animal promotion...after a bit of unit spam to get him down to a good % chance of beating him with the Ranger and captured him.

Actually now that I think about it it might have been an Allazkan capture. Details are fuzzy, it was a long time ago. Don't remember if he's classed as an animal or a beast.

Haven't seen him since then unfortunately.

Have been getting a decent amount of Tum Tum pops though lately. He's fun too...unfortunately I haven't had a chance yet to try and convert him via a Priest...but some day I will :p
