Hail to the Chief -- OPEN Succession Game

Well, here' the current data -- its a total mess, you should look it up on the website in the previous post instead. Interesting that we're getting similar results to real presidents: what you do partly comes to fruition in the terms of some future president; your data doesn't just represent you. Cool.

I see I really do not know my game thinking that attacking Babylon with one unit was foolish! Good job barbslinger! :goodjob:

It also looks like I am the worst president to date according to the stats! :(

Maybe I will try to continue the bad presidency if I play a couple more times in the next few weeks just to make sure I get at least one award! ;)

First of all, here are the demographics I inherited.

Notes: Swordsmen will soon be ready to attack Maya. You can probably take out Ashur in 10 turns as well.
Furs should be connected within the next 11 turns (a forest chop would reduce this time).
Workers can't do much more on the home continent, so send them to the new continent.
If you get a MGL, consider jumping the palace.

Here is the save.

Here is the American empire.

Hookmonkey,

It is an OPEN game, which means that you are free to take it whenever (but try to let at least 2-3 players have the game before you take it again...). So,just indicate you've "Got it" and download the game, play it (following the rules outlined in the first post), post your turnlog and the zip file containing the save, and wait anxiously for the game to beecome available to you again...

JMB

Thank you for the explenation JMB. I tought it would be something like that but wasn't really sure.

Game statistics

Good luck to the next president.

I was ready to continue, but...

@Hookmonkey:   Where is the save?

Ok. I will go next. I am having difficulties understanding the strategy here as most of our forces are close to Mayan borders but we are building an invasion force in our capital.

We cannot wish to invade the Romans: they do not have any lux!

On the other hand, if we wish to eliminate the chinese, I guess we could be building forces to get Chengdu.

So as the new president fbouthil the 2nd, I make the following promises:
- We will crush the chinese!
- We will get more lux, like dyes & silk.
- We will build a strong military so we do not look like wimps.
- There will be plenty of everything for everyone!

Well, every president make those kind of promises but no one actually believes they will keep them. :D

Starting approval: 83%

110BC (perturn)
I move some swordmen from Adams toward Roosevelt
90BC (1)
Disband a scout.
Rename a galley to Omar N. Bradley.
IBT - Korea establishes an embassy with us.

70BC (2) - Moving swords toward China.

IBT - Maya finishes HG. With TGLight, both our civ traits are covered, so if we can conquer Palenque, building ANY wonder would give us GA (discovered that rule by accident in another game).

50BC (3) - Nothing much

IBT - We lost our supply of Ivory!

30BC (4)
Drop research to 20%, const in 1t.
Do not renegociate ivory deal as I would have to give iron or 70g for it and approval rating is 90% anyway.
IBT - Get Construction -> Feudalism at min research (best I can do otherwise is 40t)

10BC (5)
Oups! Approval rating dropped to 75%, I may have to renegociate a deal!
Getting in position to attack China next turn.
Jesus is born. :crazyeye:
10AD (6)
DoW on China.
Hurry temple in Adams.
IBT
Finish temple in Adams & lib in New Philadelphia.
Maya finish MoM
30AD (7)
Conquer Shanghai killing 2 spear & 1 archer, loosing 2 swords.
Switch Georges Washington to settler to replace the destroyed city of Chengdu killing 1 spear & 1 warrior and loosing 1 sword in the process.
50AD (8) Kill a horse

IBT
Korea lands on the spot of the destroyed city of Chengdu.
Horse retreats after attacking sword.
70AD (9)
Finish the horse.
Approval at 72%. :hmm:
Korea: ivory + 35g for iron + dyes
If my calculations are correct, lux to 20% should give me 84% approval and I can do another term. :mischief:
Switch GW to harbor.
IBT
3 archers defeated by our sword stack near Nanking
A horse lands on our continent
90AD (10)
Rename Shanghai to, hum, heu, Richard Nixon Jungle. :nya:
Destroy Nanking killing 2 spear & 1 warrior loosing 1 sword. Switch Roosevelt to settler to repopulate & rush.
Kill the horse on our continent loosing a sword in the process.

Will do a second mandate tomorrow. People celebrate my reelection:
[dance]:band::banana::rockon:

I really do not understand them to reelect me since I made a stupid mistake: I forgot to give Monarchy to the chinese before DoW so that their cities could be conquered instead of destroyed! Americans really select anyone as president. :crazyeye:

Proof: They elected George War Bush and may even give him a second mandate too!

Status of electoral promises:
fbouthil said:
- We will crush the chinese!
Well, we partly did that.
fbouthil said:
- We will get more lux, like dyes & silk.
We have 3 dyes now, but we only needed to connect the one we had before. Silk will come soon.
fbouthil said:
- We will build a strong military so we do not look like wimps.
We are stronger than the chinese, but we are not incredebly strong either.
fbouthil said:
- There will be plenty of everything for everyone!
Gees! American want everything, do they! I cannot do everything! I am not the president for god's sake! Oh, wait! I am. Oups!
:rotfl:

110AD (1) - Kill spear protecting settler loosing 1 sword

130AD (2) -

150AD (3) - Kill archer and see horse near it.

IBT
horse retreats after attacking our sword
The volcano near if_only_we_were city is active!

170AD (4)
Founded Eisenhower Banana Republic near silk (getting president names from American Presidents )
Drop lux to 0%

IBT - archer killed, but red-lines sword.

190AD (5) - Volcano near if_only_we_were city is making a lot of smoke!

IBT
horse retreat after attacking sword.
Volcano erupts, but affects only tile NE & SW, if_only_we_were city is intact! That was close!

210AD (6)
Maya now has republic, but refuses to trade
Capture Beijing (and oracle) without losses killing 4 spears, 1 archer & 1 horse! Wow! RNG really were on my side since I only had 7 swords![dance]
Rename it to Andrew Jackson Silks

230AD (7) - mmc in Andrew Jackson Silks as it has too much corruption to produce 2sh.

250AD (8) -

260AD (9)
Korea now had republic. Trade for it + 60g for Monarchy!
Why in hell was I building cash to buy this tech?
Revolution: 5t
Approval: 91% Let's see what impact a revolution has on approval!

IBT - horse defeated attacking Andrew Jackson Silks.

270AD (10)
The settler near Maya is on the spot where I want him to settle. Note that a Mayan settler is on its way, but we have beaten them.
Capture Tsingtao killing 3 spears, loosing 1 horse and taking their horse resource.

What! I get an approval rating that high and I am not reelected! And, what's worse, I loose my election to ________ (insert next president name) ! That's an all time low! :suicide:

Status of electoral promises:
fbouthil said:
- We will crush the chinese!
They only have 2 cities left.
fbouthil said:
- We will get more lux, like dyes & silk.
We have dyes & silk, and are in position to get gems in a few turns.
fbouthil said:
- We will build a strong military so we do not look like wimps.
Yeah! :viking: :hammer: :viking:
fbouthil said:
- There will be plenty of everything for everyone!
With an approval of 87%, almost no one complains about that.

I have kept my promises. Oh! I see! Americans are not used to a president that keeps his promises so they are unconfortable about the whole concept. That's why they did not reelect me!
:rotfl:

Hey Shooter6947, why don't you take another turn? It has been more than a week since you played your turn... you would get the chance to shoot, er, 6947 chineses! :crazyeye: Well, there must be at least that many chinese in the two cities they have left...
