Hi - I am trying to provide technical support for my two young sons who are mad on Civ IV. . It all runs fine for about 45 mins and then there was a most peculiar graphics problem with hammers and slices of bread appearing all over the screen. AND when a couple of the settlers starting clearing a forest thick brown lines radiated from their activity. Nothing I could do cleared them. I assume that I have nist set a graphics option but which one? Has anybody any ideas please. ?

Hello, what graphics card are you using? Does it have a lot of RAM? I found that with every Civ relase I have to upgrade my graphics card or add "something" to make it work correctly. My game works fine now (after grphics card).:) I would be happy to help in any way if I can.

THanks Maxbull I appreciate your help

I have Intel Pentium 4 - 3.06 ghz on XP Pro / ME 2004 SP2.
512 mb Ram / 256 MB graphics ram, Radeon 9600 ATI 6.3 - Direct X 9.0c (Feb 2006). I hope that this can be resolved by graphics settings but I dont know which ones would get rid of these strange effects.

I have an ATI 9600 AIW, and i was having some nasty video problems and crashes until i changed my AGP aperture setting from 64MB to 128MB. I'm currently running it at 256MB and it's working great still! Change this setting in your BIOS. Also, the latest drivers from ATI helped me out (6.2 at the time... lookes like it's time for me to upgrade too!!). Also, if you haven't done so, update the game with the latest patches.

Hope this helps!
