None of you saw this coming. In any case, the celebration involves memorizing the digits of Pi to 100. Or at least it should.

Can anyone think of something to do that I won't regret missing thirty years from now?

Find out how many digits past the decimal point you have to go to find the year of your birth, or better your entire date of birth.

Amaze your friends with your knowledge of trivia by noting that one is the most commonly occurring digit in the first thousand digits of Pi.

Make lame jokes involving pies that make mathematicians cringe.

Be the only one in your social group who knows why this should have been a brief celebration ending by nine thirty this morning instead of an all day event.

Americans will snatch at any opportunity to eat food with lard in it.

Happy that!

I never really associated pie as a 'food with lard in it', though as an American I would indeed not be averse.

Shortcrust pastry requires some kind of fat content. Traditionally this is done with lard, although you can also substitute the lard with vegetable shortening.

Even if we assume American dating, 3.1415(927) rounds to 3.1416. The celebrating isn't until next year. :p

Any fat will do. Beef dripping is lovely.

I personally prefer butter, though.

The 1592 one was the once-in-forever Pi Day, then?

I wasn't in the mood for the chicken pot pie in my freezer, so this is how I celebrated this year:

Don't be silly, there's not 14 months in a year.

We could always just add another day to April. Take it from February. What's one less day to a stump month anyway!

Hm.. So on Pi day i got my book deal. Rather cool ^^

In a 3,141592 way.

woo happy super-pi day :band:

I celebrated by going to a folk concert in a house. There were 20 white people there. I might a comment about whiteness when it was more or less appropriate. They freaked out. I never saw liberals get so uncomfortable like I was saying something racist. In my head I was like, no wonder there's no black (or, whomever) people at this party if you're all so weird about it.

Long day, I'm rambling in the wrong thread. But it felt relevant to partying for pi day. :yeah:

I celebrated with a blueberry pie. It's pretty tasty, and I'll probably go grab some leftovers in a minute or two.

I only have about 30 digits of pi memorized. I memorized them in 7th and 8th grade when my math teacher had a large number of digits along the top of the wall in the classroom. Let's see... 3.141592653589798282264338327950. I figured memorizing it until every digit was present at least once was a reasonable compromise between knowing a respectable amount of pi and not spending forever memorizing it.
