Ive been playing this game for years now. As far as I can remember.

I hope what I am about to ask will be taken maturely as I know that many people will have very strong views about the history.

Civ, from what I can remember, has never seen the leader "Adolf Hitler". If we can be honest, he is one of the most infamous leaders in history and If Stalin can get a mention, when he was just as bad, why can't Adolf?
How the game works now, Adolf Hitler can most certainly be included without the need of going into the harsh and appauling realities of his beliefs and actions.

Adolf Hitler was a very passionate and intelligent speaker who rallied a whole nation on his road to power.

This could be represented with the "Charismatic" attribute.

His four year plan to rebuild the German forces and economy was something to be awed considering Germany had nothing after the first world war.

Industrious or Aggressive maybe?

It is not like Adolf Hitler has never appeared in games and on the TV before. Films such as Der Untergang etc. Games such as Hearts Of Iron etc.

I was just wondering why he has never been included.

I'll give you one good reason: if he was included, the game could not be sold in Germany.

Now, a good reason to not continue this thread: every thread on the subject has become a troll; quite famous on these boards actually. I'm sure you can search on the forum and find plenty of threads with people debating on the subject; and I hope this thread will not become a new one.

Now, welcome to CFC  :band:

Hi Mushky - welcome to the forums.

To answer your question, yes, this topic has been covered. Lots.

I'm sure someone with a bit more time wil point you in the direction of the overlong and very hotly discussed threads about this.

I personally don't really care. It's only a bloody game. If we're willing to accept that this topic is a valid subject for comedy, then why not for a game?
However, I don't want to be accused of prolonging the discussion any longer than necessary. Do a search on Hitler within the forums and have a quick glance at some of those threads.

Happy reading dude.

Hey, I promise I will do no such thing. The only reason I asked was because I watched a Drama on TV Saturday night that concentrated on Adolf's Earlier years. It was very interesting.
Im just saying that it will work without having to go into the appalling and it may sell In germany. The Der Untergang was a German film and is one of it's most successful.

I really do not want a debate. I have mad my point so I will rest there.

Thank you for the welcome too :goodjob:

Civ, from what I can remember, has never seen the leader "Adolf Hitler".

When I first read that, I assumed you were making a joke. This is the most overdiscussed topic on this board. Many mods for CivIV include Hitler.

And Hitler, IIRC, was a leader in one of the early versions of Civ, Civ1 or CivII.

But if the topic is not intended to be humorous, it therefore needs to become yet ANOTHER banal discussion about trains running on time and "historical impact". Let me get the ball rolling.

"Stalin was worse than Hitler."

There, that should do it.

yeah this topic has been done to death and always ends badly.

it's a reasonable question, but i'd be happy to see this thread locked and the debate dropped.

we all try and get along on here and this discussion just doesn't go anywhere good.

In WW2 you have the ever epic Good VS Evil (Allies: Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin vs Axis: Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo).

Even though Stalin was just as evil as Hitler (never mind that Soviet was Germany's allies at the beginning), since he helped the "Good" side, he's known to be better than Hitler. The winners, after all, write the history. Heck even the Germans think what Hitler did was wrong.

So basically, it's just ignorance.

Also, while we're on the subject of the WWII era, can we also agree that the community should make a commitment to avoiding French jokes? We've had pages of debate on the French, it always ends up getting people hot and heavy, and probably wastes a lot of time. So, no more Hitler discussions AND no more French jokes--any takers?

I give up, just search it, you'll get tired.

Wow, first off, using ******** questions like "Has This ever been asked before", or "Question about Civ" or some other lame ass open question that says nothing is annoying in it's own right. But I usually just let it go, and let people be idiots, I suppose that's their right. But this thread took it to the next level by being about Hitler, a subject that has caused more locks then any other, and is probably more prevelant on these boards then any other.

In short, this thread is probably the most epic example of fail seen to date.

Just get a mod for him, he's made to death 'cause it's so obvious. It's Germany mostly. I mean, they got Stalin in, so I doubt they were too scared to put Hitler in because it'd make some folks get all sad and such. They probably figured it didn't matter 'cause if people really cared, they knew mods would be made to put Hitler in.

Quite a frequent question.

There are a few leaders in the game who wouldn't win any 'Mr. Nice Guy' award; however, none of them is as universally reviled in their own civ and most are either cultural icons (whom would we have for the Aztects if not Montezuma II?) or were at least somewhat successful and left a lasting legacy.

I can definitely live without Hitler in the main game... but I feel he belongs into mods like Road to War. I wonder if the decision to leave him out there was by choice or to avoid trouble with the German anti-Nazi nazis who're saving us from all those wicked new media.

Phungus, this is a perfect example of the type of the type of juvenile pecking-party mentality that I'm usually so happy to see a complete lack of in this forum. The guy is a new poster... Rather than come out with the holier than thou "YOUR TRHEAD IS FULL OF FAIL IDIOT LOLZORS" mentality you'll find in most male-teen laden message boards on the internet, why not try and match the general decorum of the forum (and even the responses in this thread) and just inform the guy that it's overdone rather than start in with the namecalling and message-board cliche derogatory phrases?

This is the forum that, when I'm posting elsewhere and they routinely act towards others like you are here, I tell people is a paragon of civility in internet forums. I'd love to see it stay that way.

I second Aftershafter, first because the leval of civility here is very high and I very much support keeping it that way, second because he is master of the Protective trait, which I like but am still getting the hang of.

And this is a perfect example of how to make a pompous post

And despite your lofty passive agressive assertions you've failed to adress any point in my post, namely being:

This thread = Poo
