i'm playing a deity game with 7 ai's as chinese on my world map.I have the eifel tower & united nations ,and i haven't started a sigle war yet.
My reputation is great.
Still ,the indians had to sneak attack me every 3 turns. Even if i give them money or science ,they're never happy. They build manhatten project at 1900 ad (to celibrate the new centurie) 3 turns later ,after givven a lot of money.......

I ask you ,how to avoid that.

Once there was a civilization ,now there is pollution.

At this point all you can do is clean up the pollution and try to build a spacehip and get the hell out of dodge. To avoid it in the future don't give them anything and don't let them get powerful enough to discover nukes that early.

I don't give the ai anything if I can help it. I give them techs to raise their attitude to worshipful and exchange maps, but that's it.

Another thing, Nukes in Civ2 suck. I hope that they improve the nuclear system in civ3.

how to avoid that?

Stop being such a pushover man! You're letting the AI screw with you! The first unwritten rule of civ is that you are the master of the game, not the AI! Whipe those turkeys into shape, take a few of their cities and soon theyll be begging you for peace......and if they mess with you again, take a few more cities, repeat.......

Basically, you gotta let them know whos boss, otherwise youre gonna get walked on.

Yea, playing perfectionist doesn't mean playing the pushover. I bet you Military Advisor either placed himself on his sword, or he is planning a coup de'tat!

The problem is even if you rule the world, the AII's will still sneak attack you and wish to kill you, its inevitable

How to avoid that? Well basically don't let the AI get that strong. If for some reason you are gonna let him get rocketry then you gotta make sure that those SDIs are in place.

Fact was ,i had the power to defeat them ,only problem ,i first had to cross the himmalaya (and there are no raods there.I was one turn away of reasearching sdi.
So i think: tanks never get there on time to make some diplomatic pressure ,one turn to sdi ,hummm....
So i wanted to stall the ai.
I think he KNEW i had sdi the following turn.
the sneak attack was right on time.
Its just currios that i had the eifel tower and gave the indians good money but they didn get happier (it was Test of time: unit mania) ,wasn't the eifel tower supposed to improve my stances?
And normaly ,at this stag of the game ,i have won the game with force,so this is just (for the change)a game were i didn want to use my millitary strenght.

One thing is for sure. When you get this far into the game and the AI is hostile, you can't buy off you enemies. Giving them anything is just a waste of money.

Here are some defenses to nuclear exchanges.
1. SDI of course, but if you can't do that due to lack of tech or money then ...
2. Make sure you have nukes yourself. The AI seems a little more reluctant to attack you in this case.
3. Make sure your units are dispersed. Don't keep more than 3 units in a city. Keep units in fortresses or airbases at least 2 squares from a city. The AI will always find the biggest, juciest city and nuke that, but it never nukes non-city targets.
4. Spy out enemy cities and make it a priority to take out cities with nukes. Bypass those without nukes.

Regarding attitude ...
Attitude only seems to affect your ability to trade techs and make peace treaties. It seems to have no effect on whether someone will attack you or not.

Somewhat related to this thread. Does the Eiffel Tower Wonder do ANYTHING????? I used to always build it but my rep never changed, so now I avoid the bugger.

It's supposed to help your rep yes, but it's not enough to make it worth building. The AI is going to hate you regardless

BlueMonday's civ rule #242: "If the AI pulls a knife, you pull a gun. If he sends one of your units to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue."

Never chase peace after the year 1850. It never works unless the civ is on it's last breath. You don't have to invade, but you must defend AGGRESSIVELY. Anything comes into range of your units, kill it. If he has nukes in his cities put a few nukes on a sub, and strike where his nukes are. Simply put: the AI always goes for the win in the last part of the game, and it will betray betray betray. You don't have to deal with it.

I am a balancer, I prefert o fight singular campaigns in the late game and I too get pissed off when nukes ruin the gameplay, so heres what I did.

I changed the rules.txt file to make sure Nukes only have an attack of 50. They still command fear, will not lose on offense, but there is no pollution and when you get hit, its not the end of the world and the game. The Nuke still has only one attack before it runs out of fuel. Think of it as a giant cruise missile.
