Haven't been able to play the game!

Got the game tuesday and it is now friday, i installed the game and steam signed up for steam and registered the game. After i would click "play game" and it would show me a message saying "game is unavailable" And then it started downloading something on the steam thing. Something about an update, but the update was huge 40.mb? I dont understand does it have to update before i am allowed to play?

The problem is most of the time their servers are down, or the update just won't download.

I have never had so much trouble installing a damn game!
