Having trouble founding corporation

Hi,

I'm having trouble founding a corporation in BTS.
I have the necessary tech, resources, and great person (and the corporation hasn't been founded yet) so I am wondering what is going on...

My great person is in my chosen city and the corporations are available to be built but the buttons to create them are greyed out.

Anyone know what is going on?

You need the tech named Corporation, as well as the specific tech which enables a specific corp (e.g. Medicine).

Edit: Are you running mercantilism or state property? Switch to Free Market as it is better for corporations. Also you can only found non conflicting corps in a city as pointed out by Dr. Null.

Free Market makes it cheaper, but Mercantilism is fine if you only want to spread domestically owned corps. However, good idea thinking of civics: if you're in State Property, you can't found a corp.

Also: you can have any number of corps founded in a city, so long as those corps don't conflict with each other. I've had games where I founded Create Con, Civ Jewel, Sid Sushi and Alu Corp in my Wall Street city.

You can't have corps which conflict with each other in the same city, so if you use Mining Corp and Sushi, you're pretty much hosed for the rest of them. Still, those two are fine corporations.

To found a corp you need

1) The appropriate Great Person.

2) The technology for the corp (Railroad for mining Inc, etc...), plus the tech Corporation.

3) NOT be in State Property.

I am 99.9% certain teh problem is point #3
