Check out that game I started as Arabia.

No Egypt, no Babylon, no Persia, no Carthage, no India, no Greece, No Rome (unless they are really weak and their cultural boundary doesnt extend to the south of Italy... I have yet to meet anyone! Everything is independant or natives so far.

I haven't made it to Europe yet because Istanbul is fortified with a bunch of pikemen and am slowly closing in on China but this is freaky! Empty Earth spontaneous scenario or something!

Anyone seen that before?

This looks to me like a pretty standard 600 AD Arabian start.

If you loaded the scenario from the 600 AD start, the only initial civilizations are Arabs, Chinese, Vikings and Byzantines, although you cannot play the Byzantines. Rome has already collapsed, and is represented by a number of independent cities in Europe.

Babylon and Persia have likewise collapsed, and Turkey has yet to spawn. If you are unfamiliar with the dynamic spawning nature of this mod, I recommend you take a look at the readme, as its one of the most in depth and entertaining features of this mod.

You're right, it's the 600 AD start. Alexandretta and Trapezus are right where they belong and Al-Qahirah has constructed Pyramids already. That never happens in the 3000 BC start since the Egyptians always found Niw-rst on the spot and never consider any other alternatives for the Egyptian capital.

These posters are quite right, it's just the 600 AD start, set at a time when the old civs are long dead. On the other hand you do seem to playing Arabia perfectly well despite this confusing detail :goodjob:

Thanks guys! Even though I have been playing this mod since BTS came out, I guess it was the first time I played as Arabia from the 600 start! (I do hate building in deserts so definitely not my favorite civ to play with). It makes for a cool different start with all those native cities all round and nobody else.

I did meet the Chinese, Spanish and German after some more exploration

Arabia in the 600 AD has a great start! You can conquer a huge territory within a few rounds.
As Alexandretta and Trapezus will flip to turky later, its better to conquer India instead. Dehli is a great city for wonderspamming and Patna has 2 shrines. With the 2 shrines in Jerusalem (sorry, Al-Quds) and the soon to be built shrine in Mecca you can control 5 shrines! Just build the Spiral Minarett and you will soon swim in masses of gold!

Imo the Arabia 600 start is horrid, you're constantly swamped by barbarian horse archers from the steppes.

This is another reason I prefer the 3000 start for Russia, Persia and Babylonia really help to create a bit of a buffer.
