Hello there
I am sure this has been answered somewhere else - but please don't shoot me. I just recieved my copy of Civ III Complete from Aspyr and it is obviousley not working properly. Lack of unit attack sounds and no city view are the most annoying ones so far. Is this true for all copies of the game? If so, is there any way to fix this - is there a patch somewhere? I don't understand why they released a game with such shortcomings. I played the original PC version some years ago so I know how it's supposed to be.
Thank you for any answers.

P.S. Please forgive my English, but it is not my native language.

Welcome jornaa! :goodjob:

You are experiencing issues that others are as well. A patch is in the works to remedy the bugs. No word yet as to when it will be released.

Anyone know if Aspyr are aware of a City View problem? I never look at City Views, so I've not noticed it. Hope it's been flagged up.

PS I was thinking of "Aerial Views" - those pictures where you see the wonders you've built etc. If the problem is with the "Zoom to City" view, where you see tiles being worked and happy/sad faces, then I'm not aware of it. That view works OK for me.

You mean when you click the "eye" in the upper right-hand corner to veiw city from the air, right? I don't know what problem you're speaking of. But, if it's the fact that some wonders built do not appear, it is probably due to the fact that Firaxis didn't make art for the new wonders - for the aerial view.

Having now done some exploration, I'm guessing the issue raised here is that there *is* no eye in the City screen, and since there is also no "Aerial View" option in the rght click city pop-up menu, I know of no way to reach the aerial view. I'm not aware that this has been raised in public before, so I wonder if it's been addressed by Brad in the patch. It's not an issue for me, as I said.

The non-existent unit sounds don't bother me either, as I play with sound off to avoid disturbing the family (and I refuse to play with 'phones on!). I don't think you should assume that every issue that's been reported will be resolved in the next patch.

Hello again

When I mentioned City View, I was reffering to the Arial View option. I have always liked to see my cities grow and evolve through the ages, and it is a shame that I am no longer able to see a Wonder that has taken lots of time and resources to complete. The missing attack sounds is also sorely missed, it takes much of the drama and exitement out of executing large scale tactical attacks. I was really exited about seeing and hearing the new units and Wonders, now I feel that the game is far from 'complete'. Please Aspyr, fix this as soon as possible.

City View is still there, it works, no problems.

In the normal play modes, that is. It has never been present while playing the Conquest scenarios, and never will be. This is simply a matter of the amount of additional art that would have been necessary, due to the rules changes for the Conquests.

Quite right. The quick check I made was obviously in a modded game. Looking at a standard game, it's available. So what problem are you seeing with the Aerial view, jornaa?

I was not aware that aerial view was disabled in all other instances than the normal game mode. I usually play with maps modelled on the real world (Earth, Europe, England etc.) and seem to remember that I could access the view using these on the original Civ 3 for the PC. But I could be mistaken, it was a couple of years ago.
