Yeah as ironic as it is, I can't airlift units with my city airport but with the worker action of building an airport I can airlift units that way by using the Terraform Airport. Can Someone tell me how I can make it so I can airlift units with my City Airport again? Thanks.

By the way, when i use the Terraform airport to airlift units- I can't airlift them to a city.

You can send one airlift per airport or airfield per turn, so if you have 6 units to send, you'll need 6 separate airports/airfields to send that many. Fortunately, your destination can receive as many as you send. Your problem sounds like a game glitch, as the above is normal airlift rules. Are you playing a standard install or running a mod?

I did reinstall, no change. I even got updates after i checked it didn't work. Where's the file for the airport building and what it does, and what is suppose to be there to tell it to airlift a unit. Maybe the problem lies there.

What units were you trying to airlift. There is a small list of units that can't be airlifted including settlers, great leaders and armies?

You know, like TOW Infantry, Modern Armor, I'm using a mod that could possibly be why but I don't use a mod file so I don't see how that could interfere really, I checked the airport building- Nothing about it says whether or not it can or cannot airlift. All the units i tried airlifting can do the airlift. So the last way I look at it, I've gotta go into the program files and go into civ3 and find the text file for airport, but I have no clue where it is located.

I don't know what the problem is, but artillery is also on the list of units that can't be airlifted. Modern Armor can be airlifted.

Yeah...but i'm trying to airlift foot units and modern armor/mech infantry.

First of all, try posting a save. I don't know if I'll be able to take a look but someone might be able to help you narrow this down. Let me be sure I understand the problem: You can airlift units from an airfield, but not an airport, and you can't airlift them to a city. Is that right?

Correct! :D

But so you know i can airlift from airfield to airfield.

You can only airlift to a city if the city has an airport, is that maybe the issue?

No, tried that- it won't work city to city, city to terraform, terraform to city; Nor nothing to do with a city and a airport at all.

However it works terraform to terraform.

But you're trying to airlift out of a city with an airport or into a city with an airport, right? The airport is key. If the city doesn't have one, it can't receive the unit.

I thought I mentioned it earlier, I cannot airlift units to another city, and I've tried doing it with another city with a airport in it; but it just won't work.

The problem seems to be a modded airport entry. :)

There are two entries in the editor that make an airport that kind of building you are used for standard Civ3:

a) The veteran air units flag and
b) The Allow Air Trade-flag

The "veteran air units"-flag is also responsible for the airlifting of units. If this flag is unchequed in the editor, your airports can´t do the airlift option. So it is simple: Look in the editor if both flags are enabled for your airport. If you are not used with the editor there is at least a very simple test, if this is your problem:

Produce an aircraft in a city containing an airport. If the plane is no veteran unit, this missing flag is your problem.:)

Okay So that's the problem...If so...how do I make the airport produce regular planes without producing veterans?

It seems I haven´t explained it well enough for you. If a city with an airport in it produces veteran aircraft this airport should also be enabled to airlift units that can be airlifted and your problem is triggered by something different.

Modding has many unforseen pitfalls, and I think you found one. With so many quality mods out there, why not just pick one that fits your needs? If you like to mod for the sake of modding, then go to the C&C Forum, where you will find folks like Civinator that have much experience to draw on. Just remember, responding to old threads there is a bad idea...

Alright well the problem is resolved but me and my friend agree that if we have to make the airport produce veteran air units, that it'll take the balance out of the mod and having an elite air units would mean less. So we'll just be using a military transport aircraft to move our units and airdrop them around, although it can be intercepted which makes it all the more realistic. XD
