Help! Civ IV wont install w/vista

I have an HP Pavilion with Vista, when I bring up vanilla CIV IV I get a windows error warning saying that this program has known compatibility issues. This is frustrating since all of my earlier versions of CIV and their expansion pack work fine, grrrrr. Is this a driver issue?
Vista will tell you about the "Known compatibility issues" with Vanilla until it is patched to 1.74. You also have to run the game as Administrator by right clicking and choosing "Run as Admin..."

See the sticky of "Lemon's Civ/Vista Guide" for details on how to do this, as there are some pictures there of the menus you will see, and how to do it so it always starts that way.

Good luck. :)

Hey was able to share the drive and attempt the install from the computer but it still comes up with a

"Feature Transfer Error
Feature: Default Feature
Component: Civ4Component
File: F:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."

I even tried using an external CD drive and got that same error. I'm goin to try installing it on another Vista machine tommorrow.

Any other thoughts?

I get the same error whats up???

Hey, I'm new to this website, I didnt know if this was the right thread to post this question on, if it isn't, could you direct me to the right place.
Anyways, I just got Civ IV, Ive had Civ III forever now, and Ive had the new Civ IV, colonization for a year.
My problem is, whenever I put the disk in, it starts auto run, but goes no where. It stays on autorun, and doesnt do anything else.
I've had the Civ IV demo installed on my computer, and although when I start running it it always says "this game has known compatibility issues with this system", it's always run fine anyways. And I've never had any problem playing Civ IV: colonization.
Is my problem Vista? Is it the game? I'm not the biggest computer expert, so please help me out.
