Caesar of Bread
Ronald Reagan's #1 Hater
This is a sequel to the previous thread. Can someone help me with rules, civs, and other things for my next game?
So I have some people that want to be such civs as Canada, which has an interesting history, yet these people only want to look at the pop culture side - which is a lot of times absolutely offensive! (Canadians always saying "Sorry!", vampire Andrew Tate leading Romania, the evil three leading Germany, Russia, China...)If you want to teach something, the most important is the civs you will pick to the game.
Maybe should be cool to do a great scenario about some class, as the scramble of Africa, the Spanish conquest of Americas or however are you teaching.
As game mechanic, to a presential game, should be as Risk (war in Brazil) only avaiable domination as game design.
I don't have idea how to do a Cultural victory at a presential game.
Tate is a metaphorical and sociological vampire, yes, but not a literal Bram Stoker or Lord Byron literary monster.vampire Andrew Tate leading Romania
Just putting out here my viewpoint on a bad trope (and my view may be contentious, but in no way, shape, or form exonerates or defends the above three). Horrible, evil, and monstrous are NOT ONLY defined by high body counts in counted numbers and, "flamboyant," authoritarianism and ambitions. The view to see this defining line of the greatest and most evil regimes in history mostly by such pop culture tropes leads to the ruinous and self-sabotaging habit of much more insidious, but by nature, just as horrid, in their own ways, regimes to be bumped far down the ranks, making them viewed as more, "permissable," and less threatening, leading to their easier resurfacing. And some of the less, "overt," evil and monstrous regimes are those that have been proudly backed and supported by Western and other more, "sympathetic," civilizations, and even entertained seriously, or practiced at times, within them. Just a little nugget of historical wisdom, often overlooked, to take as you will.the evil three leading Germany, Russia, China...)
Thank you, sir.Tate is a metaphorical and sociological vampire, yes, but not a literal Bram Stoker or Lord Byron literary monster.

Canada has changed a lot culturally since the mid '90's. To put it in a nutshell, although the beaver is the OFFICIAL national animal of Canada - the symbol of humble, unassuming, but dedicated, industry - a lot more Canadians now identify with the symbolism of the polar bear, an UNOFFICIAL NATIONAL ANIMAL...Thank you, sir.
Since you are a Canadian, how should I implement Canada into this next game? And could you give some suggestions (The target audience is American middle schoolers)?
So... who should lead Canada? Also, how do I make it so that my audience is pleased while I also am pleased?Canada has changed a lot culturally since the mid '90's. Thanks, Patine. So I finally have Canada done. May you please review over it?Much like @Evie, I've always though Lester B. Pearson was the best and most representative leader of Canada.
The Uniques REALLY bug me (and I believe @Evie and @pineappledan, who are also Canadian, detest them, too). They feed into those self-same bad stereotypes. Thanks, Patine. So I finally have Canada done. May you please review over it?
Canadians under Lester B. Pearson
Unique Ability: Last Best West - +1 point of choice per city in the tundra. +3 diplomacy points per international treaty negotiated.
Unique Unit: Mountie (Replaces Police Force) - 2x strength in forest terrain.
and either
Unique Wonder: Biodome - +2 science and +2 culture if in a city that hosts a world event.
or
Unique Infrastructure: Hockey Rink - Is in every tundra/forest city. +3 culture.
What uniques do you suggest? The Uniques REALLY bug me (and I believe @Evie and @pineappledan, who are also Canadian, detest them, too). They feed into those self-same bad stereotypes.![]()
My idea for a Cultural Victory is "X amount of culture points at the end of the game" or "First one to win 5 (or 10) world events"If you want to teach something, the most important is the civs you will pick to the game.

Up to you on how to design them, but Canadian history classes these days teach a lot about European explorers/the fur trade and the impact of the railroad in connecting the two coasts and cementing Confederation. I would go for:What uniques do you suggest?
Once you've permitted dogs with a highly idiosyncratic way of speaking pushing alternative crypto-currency in a Renassaince trade republic and Count Tate the literal vampire, you've already allowed more into the game than I every would, I'm afraid.Apparently one of the people who wants to join wants to be the doge (as in that meme dog, not the Venetians). How do I work this?
Yeah the audience likes that kind of stuff. How do I tell them no to that kind of outlandish trash?Once you've permitted dogs with a highly idiosyncratic way of speaking pushing alternative crypto-currency in a Renassaince trade republic and Count Tate the literal vampire, you've already allowed more into the game than I every would, I'm afraid.
There will be an online map that we will use, and some die.I still don't really get what this project is.
You said it was a game you are playing with no board, like just talking? Doesn't that basically make this model UN?
