You took his advice about the case of beer, didn't you?

I just finished one(beer not game), while surfing on forum:D, and I played today since I came back from work until now, am I addicted?!

I find if I stop a game I don't feel like picking it up again, I just want to start a new one, so I often try to play a game all at once, but I like epic speed and the games take me 4-8 hours. I also feel like I want to play one every day :( It's affecting my grades. Have any of you figured out how to deal with this?

Consider yourself lucky you're not addicted to marathon games.

Lucky for me, my college hadn't started yet when I was hooked a couple of weeks ago. Now my urges to play my guitar are overpowering my Civing urges. :D

Do your school and work, then play civ. It may sound horrible, but getting into a rhythm can really help. Once you are into a flow you can get so much work done in less time that normal that you can finish everything you have to do so fast that you will have plenty of time for other things like social things and civ.

Get outside with every opportunity you get, do things with friends. IMO it starts being a real problem once you do not make social appointments or cancel them in order to play civ.

Other than that I heard that picking up on heroin or crack is getting rid of your civ addiction just fine.

I have a pin-board above my desk where my laptop sits. Above it I have a to-do list of all the different deadlines I have for uni. You just have to learn to live a balanced life; it comes with experience. I find that my Civ playing is much more enjoyable when I look up at that list and see things getting ticked off at a steady pace. I know some people use computer games as an escape from real life obligations because they feel those obligations are too big to tackle. If you feel that way, then break your projects down into smaller targets.

yeah I think what I'm going to do is set aside some time each week to play civ. It'll be enough time to play a whole game. 1 game per week isn't great...but it's better than nothing, and then maybe later when I catch up in school I can increae it to 2 games ;)

1) get crate of beer from fridge

2) Start game

3) drink beer

Save and exit when you are too drunk to play sensibly anymore...

Works for me anyway ;)

Not exactly legal for me.
I cherish this 3-day weekend, cause i have very little homework and plenty of time for civ. Still i find that a good night's sleep has another benefit besides academics. It helps keep your mind sharp, which is what you need in civ.

This is a three day weekend?

In Canada it is (FAMILY DAY!!!), but his location shows LA...

Good ol' President's Day 3 day weekend... other countries are really missing out

Ahh... Bestbrian comes from New York City and last time I checked, it was American... unless of course, Toronto's culture flipped New York City to Canada. :sarcasm:

Silly me.

That's the problem with a non-traditional work schedule; I don't get holidays off, so I really have no idea what it is in the "normal" world. For instance, this week I'm working Sunday through Thursday, so this is just another "Sunday" night for me. :)

I don't know which is funnier, actually. Me goofing, or the idea that Canada has culture (at least not since SCTV went off the air). :D

Hey! I'm Canadian! (even though, I have to admit it, it's true :()

At least I don't have to be ashamed of representing Guantanamo Bay. :p

LOL, now football season is over, Im back to nocturnal schedule (well sorta self imposed, cos I work as freelance programmer from home, and also cos I just like being awake when its dark ) [they come out at night....mostly] (btw Brian im In Brookyln so thats very true)...

And we are now a team without a QB, apparently, Maybe Mr Rat is for real (no he isnt yet), lets go crazy and trade for Brady :backstab: muhaahw:)

And btw mark 2...re Canada they have Celine and Ive always fancied the pants off her (so now my guilty secret is out ) ;)

Canada's located in Alpha Centauri? I knew there was something a wee bit odd about those Canadians.
