greetings!

i have been playing civ1 for eight years (not including toilet breaks!). i have done everything. populations so massive that the computer can't hack it. colonisation so rapid and so complete. huge armies. little tricycles. you name it...

only one dream...a map editor!!

(which i can get to work on a windows 95 p133 - i hear you laugh!)

can anyone help at all?

AFAIK there is only a DOS based map editor which is rather difficult to get running properly and even worse to handle. The whole interface of it is colored ASCII signs, just what you can expect from pure DOS mode. I´ve never managed to export a map, it really was too tiresome to handle.

I´m sorry, but I think that´s the only Civ1 map editor out there.

okay...i refuse to believe!

is that the map editor on this site you are talking about, ive tried it and it will not work.

also on this message board someone said that they had done a map editor. i have tried it and i cannot get it to work, its one which goes through excel. anyone have more success? though i think it was posted over a year ago.

other than that, sorry, i won't give up! there are excellent people out there with vast knowledges of code, someone must have cracked a fairly simple early 90's programme by now!!
