I'm thinking of buying a new PC. It doesn't have to be a 'pure' gaming PC as the games I tend to play aren't that resource consuming (mostly strategy games). However, I'm not willing to spend + €1000 every two years to buy a new PC that let's me play the games I want. So the PC has to last a few years.

What do you tech geeks ( ;) ) think of the following specs and what would be a good price to pay?

Motherboard : Asus P5K socket 775

CPU :Intel Core™2 Duo Processor E6750 2.6Ghz 2Mb socket 775

CPU cooler : Arctic Freezer 7 PRO socket 775

Case : Antec Nine Hundred Gaming case

power : OCZ 600 Watt GameXStream

Memory : Gskill 2 x 1Gb DDR800 PC6400 (F2-6400CL4D-2GBPK)

Graphics card : Nvidia Geforce 8800GT 512MB PCI-express

Hard disc : Western Digital 320Gb 7200rpm SATAII

DVD-writer : 20x DVD-writer Dual Layer SATA

Sound : 7.1 High Definition Audio by Realtek

USB-ports : 8 x USB 2.0

Network card: Gigabit lan

Firewire :yes

Looks fine for the amounts you'll likely be paying.

I'm not sure how prices are in Belgium, check out prices on 500GB and 750GB drives though, the $/GB price is best for those two sizes around here.

Probably the most noticeable upgrade you'll be able to make to that computer will be to add another 2GB of ram, which you'll need a 64-bit OS for, so that's worth considering, if you plan to upgrade the computer in the future.

You might want to get E8200 instead of E6750 if you can find it

edit: or E8400

What's the difference? And how much more does it cost? Or in other words, is it worth to pay more for it?
