Hi, guys!

I'm new in this community, but a Sid-fanatic since "Civ II". I realize, that I'm a noob in technical things. So, I hope that someone of you can me support. I've downloaded RoM 2.8, and it works fluently, until I decided to load AND. Now, everytime I wanted to play a Costum Game (Map=Gigantic, Big and Small; 32 Civs) or play under "Play Now!" the initializing afterwords crashes with this "Runtime Library Error". I asked the guys from "Civforum.de" and they told I should ask for more support here, because "The_J" didn't know any answer (but he was so kind trying to help me!). I use a Pentium 4, 1.80 Ghz, 1.25 GB Ram, I have updated my Direct-X Version and use BTS 3.19.

So I can't help myself... if you don't want me to go to a psychologist, please help me...:crazyeye:

Thank you guys!

It's likely you are over-stressing your computer. You are able to load the game up, but not start any maps, right? Well, your RAM is really low, below what I would recommend for this mod, and worse, you are trying to play a gigantic map.

Try a small or smaller maps, and test out other mapscripts, to eliminate that as a cause of errors.

Hm, okay, thank you for your support. I will try to play it with a smaller map. And you mean when I have more RAM, I can play a Gigantic map?

I will see what happend and tell you the result okay?

See you...

and thanks!!! :)

your core is weak and your ram is bad, I suggest new computer, make it quad with a zillion ram so it will work with civ 5 when it comes out

Let's keep it realistic please.

OK, basically, you need 3GHz core for fairly speedy game turn times and other operations. Then you would need at least 3GB or more* for better saving space and bigger maps. With these minimums, you would be somewhat guaranteed a smooth gameplay. However, due to technology vagaries, you still should be careful with how you choose your machine :).

It is often recommended that players stay with Huge at most anyway because of ease of speed with that size. Over that size, you are on your own for the speed slowdowns.

*With 4GB and 32-bit Windows 7, you can use 3.25 GB. With 64-bit, you will use the full extent of whatever RAM you have :).
