Help! spy keeps killing my oil supply.

Hi ,

a pic of your city would help a lot , what lux resources you have , traits , wonders , etc , ....

there is a whole lot to play with that ( ! )

:hmm: maybe before you took it those workers got a wip or so , .... :(

Have a nice day :)

I'm not sure what the pic will tell you, but I'll post at the bottom of the page.

I have only a couple wonders as I started out boxed in a corner and have been fighting out of it since the start. very slowly.

I have plenty of resources luckily. Just not enough room. Happiness is a little low unless I have the cultural slider pushed up a little bit.

I just figured a newly captured city would have a war weariness of 0 or something low to give a person some time to grow.

You don't get any benefit from having multiple spies on a tile, or even in your cities. Nor do you get any benefit from having a Security Bureau and a spy in a city at the same time. It's one or the other. The only ways to make things more difficult for your enemies is to increase your espionage spending or conduct a counter-espionage mission. Having a team of Workers handy is a good idea though, I've done that myself.

Hmm, then i've gotten wrong info here. Thanks.

Hi ,

this is a newly captured city right ?

more lux resources do make a giant diff , how long have you been at war ? maybe those poor citicens allready had to go true wars before :( , they could have been exp draft ? whats your traits government wise , that can help , ...

do you have a save froma turn before you took it ? enter worldbuilder and go take a look if you have , it might tell something also

the best tactic now is to build a courthouse , temple , jail , etc , and let it go down a bit , get more lux resources , trade negative in your advantage if you have to , if it makes them happy t will be worth it

Have a nice tuesday morning :)

Well I would assume I have enough resources. It say 30/30 healthinessand I'm full. I don't know if there are enough resources left for me to aquire. also note the city name. I took it from Zara who took it from the french. Not sure if that should really matter, but I've been at way a very long time, but this is the only city to riot so badly. I even took another city and it is normal.

anyway, it's a moot point now. The French who were the vassal of Zara have started recapturing cities thereby flooding me with new French zones of control that are now choking out Paris completely. Then out of nowhere, Pacal takes the Zara on as a vassal, then Pacal takes Paris from me, then another city, then finally sues for peace as I was about to take Zara's last two cities. Finally the French capitulates to Bodica (after I free him! the no good, dirty rotten, ...)

Anyway, I needed the peace badly. My cities are starting to fall in ruin and I'm now wayyyy behind in techs and Pacal is half done wioth the scaceship. Everyone seems to be ignoring him the whole game. I guess I better get a Navy on the march in case Bodica ignores him. I better get the spies rolling in there as well and sabatoge some space parts.

I just hope I can build the internet to catch up on techs or I'll never get my domination victory. I have a small chance of cultral as Pacal is only slightly ahead of me.

Thanks again for help all

Hi ,

sounds like fun :)

never neglect your buildings , people often neglect courthouse and markets , ....

take a few turns to relax , maybe create a war or two , let them fight and then move in but this time with greater speed , just roll inthere and raze a few if you have to , its better to loose a few unhappy then to let it bring you down move quick and hit hard , no remorse :D

use those spies to cause mayhem or steal techs

now good luck and let us know how it went

Have a nice day :)

Build a fort over the oil and then you will have access to it and you can station a sentry there if needs be. I know spies are invisible but the more units you have the more chance they have of uncovering them.

Not true I'm afraid :(. The chances of detecting a spy on a particular tile outside a city are only affected by :
a) the ratio of total EP spent since the beginning of the game for you and the other civ,
b) if one of your spies is present on the tile (more than one doesn't help),
c) a Counter Espionage mission has been run by you against the other civ.

The other units have no effect on an enemy spy. A fort doen't help either unless the enemy is going to attack with real troops, an oil well is better if the tile can be worked by a nearby city.

- Plant a spy in each of your oil resources. If that sounds like a large hammer investment, well then you've got a lot of oil and hence it wouldn't be a problem.
- plant enough workers on each oil tile, depending on speed, to rebuild immediately in 1 turn. Whoever's doing it would run out of espionage points pretty soon. And workers don't have much to do in that late in the game anyway, plus they'd probably only take 1 turn to complete in one of your core cities. It's also dirt-cheap to gold-rush at that point.

I would not try to run a counter-espionage mission, because you have to be sure who did it. If you have enough points to run against anyone, well you shouldn't be losing the espionage war in the first place.

Build castles as soon as you can, in all your cities.

Their EP creation is cumulative and you start massing points years before the AI gets around to it - I'm usually so far ahead if I get AI spy problems assigning all my EP to that particular AI ends it there.

Or burn their cities, burn them to the ground, Sirrah!
