I own an xbox 360 and a new laptop - capable of playing civ large maps, late game, pretty well (Don't feel like getting into specific pc specs). I put a lot of time into civ, but every once in a while am in the mood for something faster paced.

I am looking for a first person shooter/adventure type of game. Here's the specific interest though; I would like a multiplayer game that has a one death arena style/system.

Something for lack of other example, such as the hunger games books. A game where a large amount of players verse, you get only 1 life to come out on top. No constant re-spawns like most first person shooters. If you lose the round, you are able to join a different game later. Not something like Diablo 3 hardcore where you have to spend a long time building up the character.

I prefer sci-fi (halo/star wars battlefronts) or lore based games (skyrim, Diablo). Not realistic war ones (modern warefare).

If anyone knows of any types of games like this I would appreciate the suggestions!

(Yes, I admit to reading and enjoying the Hunger Games series..and I checked, they haven't made a game)

Mount&Blade: Warband (and its mods) has the popular Battle game mode where two teams face off but each player only has one life per round. There is a wide variety of mods too and the NW DLC feauting up to 200 player battles.

The main game mode in the CounterStrike games is similar. There aren't many MP games that aren't team-based and aren't usually TDM.

Thank you Maniacal. I see the thread about this game, so I'll ask further questions about it there.

Anyone have any other ideas for games?

ARMA II or Red Orchestra 2's Countdown mode but you said you didn't want realistic shooters. Otherwise I can't think of many games that focus on that game mode in multiplayer, and nothing that similar to The Hunger Games.

If you're interested in games of other types though I have more.

Try TF2

Yeah, true. If you want only one life per game you can try CounterStrike: Source or CounterStrike 1.6.

I was going to recommend this. CSS probably, and maybe CS:GO, although I can only vouch for CSS.

The only alternative is probably a Rainbow Six type game with a team deathmatch multiplayer, although I'm not sure what is similar to that after RS:Vegas2.

I'll vouch for Red Orchestra 2 as being excellent if you can stomach a BattleField- "tickets" type game.

I wonder about the coming Ghost Recon free2play, if it will be instaspawn or one death.

I also vouch for Red Orchestra 2 as a great game, though PunkBuster is pretty awful (and kept me from playing RO2 for more than 20-40 minutes at a time, as it would freeze my computer).

You can also try Darkest Hour, which is a (free?) expansion for Red Orchestra 1 which features a lot of tank combat.

Thanks again for all the suggestions everyone! I'm still not much of a realistic war type game fan.

I think I am going to stick with Civ for another month, and just grab Halo 4 when it comes out. It will still be just a respawn game, but I've always enjoyed it in the past.
