Help! What to do in this situation?

Absolutley fantastic! :goodjob:

I was pointed this way by Antonius Block cos I noted in Gen Dicussions that it was a real pity that such scenarios could not be designed using the editor. Amazing to see you've gone a step further and actually inaugurated it into a game :D

Its funny how well all this meshes together, like how the bombers take out some of the population. Just goes to show all the people that complain about stuff in civ3 should think twice

Oh the strategy section huh? That's fine with me!

DaveMcW: Actually I did get that source of oil, just that it got exhausted about 30 turns ago, and that's when this whole thing started. A little after that the Arabs and Babylonians got a virtual monopoly on oil sails, and wanted to charge LOTS for it.

Thankfully, the English discovered new sources of oil in north England that they could sell to me for a while, but I don't like just relying on one source of oil, if you know what I mean.

Oh and what's this about the humor and jokes section? I know that my strategy in this game might not have been THAT good, pretty silly in some cases I guess, but moving the post to the humor and jokes section just so people can laugh at my poor strategy seems a little harsh to me :(

Shouldn't the troops around Basra be English?

I suggest that your troops surround Bagdad and Basra and just take a few pot shots at any English units that come in to help you out. :(

There will be about 800 gurreilla units and tanks hiding under that cow outside Bagdad. Suggest you consider nukes.

Excellent stuff Sirp.

Remember to accidentally fire some cruise missiles into the neighboring nations...

Well the first post made me think this whole thing was a joke, but this post makes me think otherwise. You DO know why people think this is humor, right?

Don't take it so hard.. you're an excellent strategist. Seems you have plenty of big guns there.. use em :D. And if all goes to pot, just nuke em a couple...dozen times.

HMMMM very tricky situation you have here.
It reminds me of a game that I once played. I was the English and my home island was way overcrowded so I shipped half way round the world to a newly discovered continent that suited me to a tee. Only problem was it was habitated by people already. Not civilised tea drinking, fancy suit wearing waltzing types like myself. So my dilemma was do I.....
a) try and co-exist with them peacefully, sharing knowledge and resources or do I..
b) Wipe them off certain islands and assimilate them into our culture over the next couple of centurie's.

Now we're back to talking about Civilization! So when you say these 'people'...were they a Civilization, just very backwards and behind (because of being isolated)? Or were they just barbarians? A group of 'goodie huts' perhaps?

-Sirp.

They were a civilisation.
Very technologically backwards when compared to my own but with a strong culture.

Hmm.....they were an actual civilization? So they had cities? Lots of culture? So they had lots of buildings in these cities? Hmm...interesting. Did you have problems with culture flips?

I don't like it. He's showing his views on the war in the post. It belongs in off-topic if anything. I don't like the whole deal with the hidden nationality units and not knowing where they're coming from, etc. And attacking Babylon because he thinks they're coming from there even though he has no idea. This post does not belong here. I think it was very cleverly done, but it's not very tasteful. It's an offensive post and leaving it in strategy and tips is very wrong. This is the reason I don't read off-topic and I don't appreciate finding it here.

Normally I'd agree with you, however this was so clever I didn't get it till almost the end.

Hey sirp, could you post a save of this? I'd like to play it :D

And Chieftess, would you like me to explain why it's humor ;)?

Actually, I don't see anywhere here where he expresses his views on the current war in Iraq at all. This is presented as a (modded) Civ3/PTW game, and would be totally plausible in any other circumstance. We may want to move it to either Humor & Jokes or Stories & Tales, though. ;)
