Help!!

Ok, this should be on civ2-help area, but PLEAASE mod don't move this,
nobody will answer this then.

I was just downloaded Civ2-GOTM13, when the 13th striked me!

When I started the game, there came a pop-up window, which said
"WinG load failure. Error:2" What is this problem? I want to play civ! Aaagh!
HEeeeeEEEeeeEEEElllLLLLlLllPPP!

I have Civ2 Classic, version 2.42.
I've had Windows ME about 6 months, during that time civ2 has worken fine.
Sometime ago I installed CtP, which is why I have now 1,5 Gb free space on my main drive.

I believe the problem is that you may have inadvertantly downloaded a MPE version of the Game of the Month. (I seem to recall receiving a similar message from a Succession file that I tried opening.) So trying downloading a classic version again.

I don't think so, since the saves for the Gotm are made in Classic so everyone can play them. I think you have to download again (try the zip if the other doesn't work) and try over again.

This is the file for the fix. Rename it to wing.exe to install it.... but read my post in tech support first.

You wrote this several months ago, but I have just placed a detailed explanation in the tech support forum, and provided the file to fix the problem here:

I have Civ2 Classic, version 2.42.

Then the post I made will solve your issue, as long as you are not running an NT flavor of Windoze (e.g., Win NT, Win 2000, Win XP).
