Does anyone else want to punch that old tribal elder in the face? I am so tired of spamming escape, waiting for the load to finish. Is there anyway to replace this with just a old fashioned load bar?

And can we please not have this in the expansion?

You can easily find how to disable the intro via the forum search. That however only gives you a black screen instead, as the game needs the time to load. Won't be faster either.

If you want a loading bar, you'll need to buy G&Ks. They actually mistakenly delivered a patch some weeks ago which added a loading screen/bar and I'm confident it will return with the expansion eventually even together with an ingame option to disable the intro video instead of having to edit the ini file manually.

I usually just turn the sound down and make funny voices for the characters until the game finishes loading.

Yes, especially when he's at some inches(centimeters) only from my face!

You'll need to edit the "usersettings.ini" file in your \my documents\my games\sid maier's civilization 5\ folder.

There's an entry "SkipIntroVideo = 0" change it to "SkipIntroVideo = 1"

"Good, this is a lush, fertile land, I think it'll make a nice..."

*sound of Mongol Keshiks and swordsmen storming into the little settlement*

:D

It looks like the movie is stored under the Civ V folder within steam apps in files beginning with Civ5_Opening_Movie (several versions for different languages). All are wmv files.

So you might be able to make a backup and then copy your own wmv file into that directory, naming it the one that you use.
However, the next time a patch comes out (or you resych) it will likely download the original file again.

Ooo, you're right, they are just .wmv files. Yeah, now I'm totally going to have to dub funny voices in and replace them with it.

hehe

I just mute the sound until the video finishes. In fact, what I really can't stand is - without wanting to offend the many Americans on this forum - his accent. I twitch every time I hear him say 'fertle' instead of 'fertile'.

"Welcome back my son i have missed you!" arrrghhh, it is so annoying.... Since i upgraded my pc it seems to load up before he starts talking :) not sure if it was the processor upgrade or the RAM?

If you changed hard drives, it could be the hard drive speed. It makes a significant difference, I can tell you from experience.

Thank you!

A black screen is better anytime, than an old guy repeating himself to infinity!

I can actually relax now. :)
