I need to get out there someday!

Here's a picture I took of a friend during our high altitude hike through the Peruvian Andes. We were descending from the highest point on the hike (4,200m - 14,000 feet) down into a valley.

Gorgeous! :)

The only thing comparable I ever saw was when leaving Rossland, B.C. when the clouds were low in the valley. The mountains looked no bigger than rocks poking up out of a river. I wish I'd made my grandfather stop so we could take a picture. It was amazing.

Very beautiful pictures!

Anyone else here been to the top of Pike's Peak in Colorado?
Has a great view, but the air is a bit thin.

Last time I went was right after the Colorado wildfires.
Right side of the road was all burned down, left side was pristine Pike's Peak.
Park guy said if the fire had crossed the road it would have burned the park down.
People had blankets strung up thanking the firefighters along side the road.

If the ride up and down the mountain scared you a bit with the 1000ft drops off the sides, here's someone doing it in a racecar :D

Link to video.

05:00-08:45 makes me cringe.
Check out the kph gauge on his dashboard when it shows up.
100kph is 60mph

I can't claim the photos.

It is not often the Canyon fills with clouds like that, so a number have been posted online. The cause is a thermal inversion, which forms a lid on the clouds.

Kaitzilla, The last time I climbed Pike's Peak it was not nearly that crowded.
