I'm sure that there have been higher levels attained (especially with larger maps and longer games), but this is the highest level hero I have ever had.

Map Size: Standard
Game Speed: Normal
Spacial Option: No settlers (there were a lot fewer cities to conquer).

Alazkan the Assassin.JPG

I got Alazkan the Assassin up to level 21.

This screen shot was taken about 3 turns before I won a Tower of Mastery Victory. I almost reached level 22. By the time I finished 3 turns later, he had 438/442 experience.

I would like to see some screen shots of other players superheroes. No cheating please (honor system).

Ok.... I was going to post something about my 240some exp chanter (non-hero) but that really doesnt come close to 438 exp.

In case anyone was wondering, he was a pop from the merc event where I got a free chanter (amurite assassin) with hidden nationality. I slapped a great general on him and went around wiping out my neighbors workers and warriors.

I often have units of higher xp, but then again I usually cheat. I tend to remove the limit on free xp gain.

Here are some of the things that helped:

High mobility (movement 4)
Orthus Axe (multiple attacks per turn)
Hidden nationality (I killed all the units in nearby civs when I was at peace)
Raiders Trait (extra experience with each kill)
Marksman/Assassin (Attacks the weakest unit in a stack so less chance of being wounded)

I also had a couple of nonhero units with oevr 100 exp in the same game. They were both Rangers who captured animals and killed barbarians throughout the game. With both no Settlers and Wildlands, there are a lot of animals to hunt. Having a bear den and a wolf den on the map helped as well.

As a side note, the Rangers leveled up from animals and barbarians. Alazkan the Assassin earned all his experience from killing off other civs. Most of my neighbors had no defenders in their cities during the later parts of the game since my hero would kill all the defenders in one city and then move onto the next.

I had Hyborem up around this level (don't recall the exact level but exp had just reached 500) and had the armageddon counter at 100, then someone brought Basium into the game which causes cold damage. Basium immediately cast Divine Retribution and my level 20+ hero died.

Edit: found a save game, but this is atleast 30 turns short of were he died.

My most leveled hero was (guess three times...) Losha Valas. :D I do not remember her final level but i pumping her until used all accessable promotions - and one level more.

Mine was Rantine. I leveled him up against barbs and my extermination of the Bannor. Then, Faeryl cast her world spell while I was moving through her lands so I was able to kill her units indiscriminately without fear of reprisal. And by that time only a concentrated attack would have a chance to take him out.

I've had Basium up above 400 XP in most games I play with the Mercurians. Sorry I didn't save any screen shots.

He always seems to have much the same as your hero had: Raiders, Orthus' Axe, Iron/Mithril Weapons etc. and I will normally attach a Great Commander to even make him more powerful.

I can say there is nothing more annoying in FFH2 when you lose a 400+XP Basium when the counter hits 100!

Of course, you usually get a 400+XP Angel, but IMO Basium is the best in the game!

Here is far and away my highest level unit -- level 29. He's actually not a hero, but a regular Paladin unit -- IIRC he started off as a Champion and then got upgraded at some point. He has unequal attack/defense because I was playing as Doviello and he started off mutated with a defensive bonus. You can also see he's got the Netherblade which he picked from killing the Sidar Hero. I renamed him Avenger because the Sidar Hero killed Bambur and so my unit avenged Bambur by killing the Sidar Hero and taking the Netherblade.

I was running out of promotions to give him. Mostly I used this guy as a defensive bulwark, putting him in a city which I knew was going to get attacked by hordes of enemy units, so he got lots of experience each turn by surviving multiple attacks.

The weird thing was I had another bunch of Paladins with relatively high level (five combat stars, etc.), but they could never quite hold off the attackers, they might for a couple turns, but sooner or later they would be killed. This guy though was indestructible. The extra combat bonus from the Netherblade seemed to make a big difference between surviving and dying.

Those are some, umm, very powerful units. Gulp.
(200 xp Gilden runs away and hides)

Don't you get bored of 99.9% victory battles? lol. I think my all-time highest hero was about level 12 :p.

Not all of the battles were 99.9%. I didn't coddle the assassin to ensure survival. There were a couple of times when a civ retalliated against the my hero with a stack of troops and whittled him down to less than 1 hp. I was just lucky that he wasn't killed. I never used my world spell (kept saving it for later, and then forgot about it), so I didn't have any hidden nationality units that I could stack with him to protect him. Next time, I will make sure to do this (although tougher defenders will get a lot of the exp).

Shiny says I.

Though Alazkan with the CoE as his religion = Insanely broken.

Don't have the axe? Go steal it... And -then- start killing your neighbour's units and declare nationality when it looks like he might be in a spot of trouble... And hide again when the danger is past.

Well, vampirism (feast) can get units to stupidly high lvls, i remember one of the first times i got into the late game with calabim, I had a lvl27 lich or such. Gah!

My highest since Shadow came out, I had to fight my way back to my capital the other day so I ended up with 38xp.

Nobody will ever accuse my Sidar military of being elitist. (kinda like Logan's Run, after 26xp your age crystal changes color and adios amigo)
