Hilf mir bitte? (Help!)

I received a retail version of CivIV Gold Edition for christmas, and today while i was getting into the tutorial my entire computer crashed, i reboot my computer and im given an error report referring to an Xml in the game, i tested all my other games to make sure nothing else is crashing the same way and ive concluded that something is wrong with my game...

Ill try and get a copy of what file it is but ill also throw out this information if its useful-

- This is a fresh install, and i have not made any changes to the game
- the computer crashes after running the game for a certain time
- my computer has the statistics listed as reccommended for CivIV
- i dont have BTS, just CivIV and Warlords

Any help will be appreciated

Ty, i hope i enjoy posting here:

THe OS is XP with SP3, No patches (i read on these forums that gold shouldnt need patches when i was checking the need for updates if any), and i am unable to post the error message, the first time it gave me a system error report to send, ive attempted to invoke another crash with sucess but the error report does not come up again

you can check the error reports in the windows event viewer - however: first patch the game to 1.74 and 2.13 and update your directx install.

And im not aware of an event viewer how do i get to it?
