Hmm - 3 UK release dates

I only found out Civ 4 was due out a few days ago, wish I hadnt found out until after the 1st of November as the panic attacks, cold sweats, and general urgent need for a new Civ game NOW is getting to me and hindering my work!

I could last a few days of knowing, but waiting another week or possibly MORE?!? I may need a few sedatives to help me get my mind off it and help me get some sleep!

Seriously though, I dont think I have ever been this excited about a new game release!!! :D:D:D

FYI, this is the e-mail I got from Take Two after preordering from their web site:

Thanks for your pre-order of Civilization IV PC. We will ship out all pre-orders as soon as the game arrives in our warehouse. This is often the day before the official release date, but we cannot guarantee that we will have the game before that date. You will receive the game according to the shipping method you chose when placing the order. Therefore, if you picked “next-day-air” shipping, you should get the game on 10/24/05, if we receive the inventory according to plan.

Since I picked next-day-air ($17.15) I should have it on the 26th the latest. :)

Got a reply from Firaxis:

...Civ IV will ship to North American retail stores on October 25th, and to
European stores on November 4th....

So this basically looks like the 28th thats being quoted by play.com and gameplay.com is probably gonna change (unless they are getting DVD versions supplied from the states maybe?? doubtful...)

I'd root for the eager ones in Europe to have it on there doorsteps by the 5th of Sept... which is a saturday  So maybe that'll be the 7th if you dont get any mail at weekends :confused::confused::confused:

I give up, too much guessing... gonna go hybernate for a few weeks and when I wake up it will be in my hand!

Have a good weekend everyone!

:)

I just cancelled my pre-order from amazon.co.uk, and pre-ordered from play.com. Even if the delivery date changes from the 28th(which it probably will) at least i've saved myself some money (Amazon £26 inc del. - play.com £17.99 inc del.)

I also had to subsidise myself with FM2006. But in all honesty, nothing can take my mind away from counting down the hours!

Aaargh. I went for Amazon because I figured £24.99 was dirt cheap. But £17.99? Hmm. Still time to change!

Though Amazon aren't all that terrible with their dates: the latest Peter F Hamilton novel arrived very promptly (just over 2 weeks ago), and it hasn't (not been to check yet though) even appeared in Borders yet.
