It doesn't wether which wonder I finish and when.. but the game will just crash when the wonder movie (whatever wonder..) pops up... Any way to cancel it? or any way to fix this..???

You can turn off the wonder movies by opening up the Civ 4.ini config file and changing "Nomovies" from 0 to 1. It does seem to be a problem for a lot of people that wonder movies crash the game, but I haven't seen a proper fix for it.

well thanks!

Now thats what I mean when i say I get the feeling the released CIV4 before it's ready... this stuff should have been in the options in the game...

"this stuff should have been in the options in the game" yes, i too have searched like crazy for this!!

i don't understand those vague low medium high settings, what do they actually really change.

wierd.

very disappointed with Sid

Wonder movies aren't going to work right on below-recommended video cards; that's just life. Originally, they worked on and off for me, but since 1.52 offloaded more work to the graphics card, it's absolutely no go.

Save your pennies; you can buy a video card adequate to run CivIV for less than $100.

<-- just ordered hers :)

Also, I had thought someone said that 'no-movies' *is* in the game options in 1.52. I haven't looked for it myself, because I was already used to using the .ini file.

it isn't in the game, you have to do in the ini file. but something as simple and silly as a little movie shouldn't crash this game, right?

nothing should crash this game, even when i meet and extra all the requirements

i'm sad

I too am having this problem.

P4 2.4
512MB
nVidia GeForce 5600

Nortons 2006 fullu updated and reporting clean, machine fully updated. Is SP2 mandatory?

I have read a lot posts about making config changes to the game and to my computer. My personal feeling is that I should not have to if my machine meets not only the minimum specs but also the 'recommended' specs.

I feel reipped off for a hundred bucks, and would rather go back and play ver 3 - it worked!

I'm extremely angry about this too - fourth time tonight it has happened. Thank goodness for autosave! Have to keep lowering my graphics settings every time I want to build a wonder.

Oh yes, and I've got Geforce, 1024MB RAM on a P4 2.0 PC. That *should* be enough shiny kit to run this game, shouldn't it?

The most annoying thing is that having waited patiently for this 'fantastic' game, I discover that the official website lists help/support for the US and Canada... To bad for the poor bunnies Down Under

There appears to be no way of reporting faults, everything steers you back to a forum.

So what now? Keep waiting for patches? Use the DVD as a $100 beer coaster? How does one get a real response from the manufacturer?

I haven't played a civ4 game which didn't crash or gave other visual
problems.Especially the wonder + leader pop-ups.
Upgrading to patch 1.52 and nvidea drivers, using memory saver
also didn't help.

Maybe this help :
Set the AGP Aperture size (Mb) in the system bios to a higher value.
I used 64 Mb (:() and switched it to 256 Mb (:)) .
At the moment I'm playing a game at a large map with medium settings,
there aren't any problems so far and the space race just started.

But do you really think it's good enough to have to make significant system changes. I've never had a problem with a Civ version in the past.
