Ok, I survived the journey and I got it installed (after fiddling with the 3rd floppy disk a bit 
) and boy how I had fun! (even though I suck at it 
)
And on the topic of Win 98 & Colonization: It works fine for me but I don't have sound, which is most probably because I don't know what my sound drivers are...
