HoF on tiny, chieftain.

Right, fret.
To make THE high score, it has to be on HUGE and on DEITY!
But, that's the last one I'll break, if I'll ever live 2 get there.
I still have "work" on tiny.

Actually, the highest score will eventually wind up being a huge milk game on Sid. I just don't think Aeson's bothered adding that level to the tables yet (not likely any completed submissions).

Yes it is. A level called Demigod was inserted between Emperor and Deity, and a level called Sid was added after Deity.

Sid's something nasty, too. If I remember correctly, the AI starts with 2 settlers and at least several warriors, right at the get go. The AI also produces at 400% the rate of the human.

I have yet to beat the level...:(

Well, it ain't in the HoF and I don't have C3C, so..
it doesn't exist!
Yay!

Sid is legal for HOF submissions, I guess it just doesn't show up on the chart yet because no one's submitted a Sid win yet.

phooo...

I finally finished my {emperor , tiny} highs :
I will be first and second, with 3250BC and 3200BC. :king:

BTW, (aeson...) the current number 1 high is NOT 3250BC but 3200BC!

Now, I will do deity eventhough I think my monarch records could be broken...

Also... does anyone know what settings give more goody huts???
I looked in the editor, and it is just NOT there!
I have to get some advance (probably the wheel) in deity to have a successful game, and even when I go with scouts, I can hardly find the goody huts (not to mention what they give..)

I'm NOT using the editor -
I'm opening it just to see what the current parameters and rules are exactly.
For example, I can see that Iron appears with a probability of 1/120 and saltpeter 1/160, but I can't see anything about the goody huts!

I never change a thing in the rules!

Chaim.

I now found a strange bug - last AI settler gets the free starting units (again) when he (again) builds his first city!
This is with no respawn, on PTW 1.27, and I've described it in the PTW bugs thread.. just so u'd know..

:nono: I never said you did. i simply said the editor can't be used for a HoF game...

BTW, you can't change the amount of GHs in the game. There are either no GHs (barbarian setting: No barbarians) or there are GHs (all other barbarian settings)...

yes, so u say that GHs r directly linked to barbarians??
But not all GHs produce barbarians...
And doesn't it also have to do with difficulty?

I haven't played with the seed in C3C but back in my Civ 2 days of playing with the editor the seed had a dramatic effect on the number of goody huts on the map. Some Civ 2 seeds could get twice as many goody huts as normal games.

-Yes. either there are GH's or not. No middle ground here.
-True, but that does not influence the number of GH's on the map
-AFAIK only the effects from popping a GH are influenced by difficulty level, not the amount of GH's...

thnx, darkness, so I should put barbarians on minimum..

Also, I'm starting to understand how to break MC's record on {Deity , tiny}...
I've managed to conquer at 1500BC with JAGs only, but need to improve some points.
The 2 AI should appear where they are blocked in a relatively small space, and then they fight each other early.
Then I go to war and terrorize them a bit, then conquer a small city and ask another.
When I get it, I go for another war.
It is important to make them start a fight between themselves in the first place, which is dependent on their position, free space and aggressiveness..

I think I will go towards some more aggressive AI, even if it means giving them attributes such as scientific or expansionists..
I'm still trying.

The highest scores of CivIII known to exist belong to the likes of SirPleb, Moonsinger, Mazarin and Markstar and yet they've all said they're constantly learning something new with every game. To be honest, that goes for all of us Hall of Famers...

It looks like my current pacifist attempt is going to be successful and I've already thought of a half dozen things I could do differently that would've boosted the score.:goodjob:

yes, but MC's game at {tiny , deity} was finished at 1990BC, and he used only JAG warriors, so I'm trying to do the same, and learn the small details that would make me win such a game in such a date.

Sure I'm still learning - the most bothering thing to me now is:
When can a city get captured and not razed??
Is it when the population grows? culture? what exacly??
This bugs me in my games...

When you capture a city it loses 1 point of population, if it only has 1 point of population it will be auto-razed unless it has some native culture. I'm not sure about a 1 population city with a Great Wonder that has just been built so hasn't developed any culture yet.

Every culture producing building produces culture on the turn it's been built, so I'm not sure how that's possible....

So, culture is not sure..
And I think I remember killing some 1-sized cities and getting 'em.
Perhaps they were just gonna grow to size 2 ??

No definite answer, ha?
Perhaps I'll find this after I break MC hammer.
