HOF Questions & Answers

Can I break luxury for lump sum deals by declaring war? Then sell the same luxury to a different civ and declare war to break it again?

The declaring war part means everyone will hate me. Is that enough of a penalty?
No. That would be a pattern of exploitation.

Systematically exploiting the AI for gold is what we are banning.

Trading tech or spare resources prior to war is a gray area. It should be okay. That is assuming that you are actually going to attack them. War has real costs and consequences. Note that I said spare resources. Selling your happiness or your strategic resources that you need is crossing the line. Declaring war to break agreements with an AI that can't reach you and you never intended to attack is the same as pillaging the resource.

Bottomline, making and breaking agreements just to for the gold is banned.Same thing as pillaging it yourself.

huh. i looked through the rest of the thread after that last comment, i suggest you get rid of this "gray area" and make it a hard rule; no trading with the intention of declaring war to regain.

Understood.

I would also suggest that the staff take a much harder ruling on such events if they occur in the early game (where 200gold extra would provide a huge advantage). In the late stages of the game its easier to occur by accident and anyhow the 200gold that you get for a single such exploit is pretty meaningless.

The Korean localiztion FONT don't commend itself to me, so I changed font name in "korean.xml" file. Is this exclusion, or allowed for HOF?

path: steam/steamapps/common/sid meier's civilization v/assets/gameplay/xml/newtext/korean.xml -- <fontname> line

Is this allowed?

You are in war with someone.
And for offering a peace, he's giving almost all his cities...

That's okay. We are only interested in parameters that affect game play.

Yes. Spoils of war.

How come the Time victories are not displayed in the HoF in the condition menu but they are counted for the Machiavelli in the VVV. Now if I want to beat a score I have to manually find them.

It would be easy if it would be added with the condition menu.

Good question, will get it added.

It is there but you need to change the 'date' to 'score'. Time victories do not give medals for the date, otherwise everyone would share a gold, and so only the score menu is listed.

Hope this helps.

Indeed, I found that. But I still have to find them manually in another menu. Thanks

Thank you Ozbenno :)

When you switch to Scores you have to click the GO button so it can update the dropdown. (Sorry, but we don't do client-side code so you have let the server know you changed options.)

Yes, I know :)
What I mean with searching manually is picking another menu (for example, speed) and then look for each speed to see if there are any time victories.

I know it is a few extra click but on the By Condition page: select score, click GO, select time, click GO.

I suppose I could add it to the drop down so you could select both at once. I just didn't want to display time victories with dates selected. I would come up with 2050 AD on every game.

Ooh, excellent thanks. Didn't found it that way :)

Time to delete the HoF and start over after the patch?

RAs are completely changed. All Science and Diplo VCs will be longer, and therefore are unlikely to match the current games. (though, Science VC might be a bit shorter due to not needing the path to Globalization anymore) Science output is different as well.

Culture might get a bit faster, though every +100% buff got nerfed.

Domination... well, I'm sure the happiness changes might cause some initial trouble, but overall it's likely to be similar. (no RA spam help, but menh)

If we start over isn't it possible that some people might drop out?

yes, though I'm sure they'd be frustrated more by the total change in game play style and the fact that they'll never catch the prior scores than they would if their games got removed.

Obviously, a simple solution is to keep 'HoF v.1.1' as a 'no more submissions' section, but keep the data and the medals already received; but ensure the new version isn't comparing against the old version scores for the rankings.
