Great work Aeson. Now there's a final set of rules we can all refer to to eliminate any confusion on the rules issue.

I especially like this change in the rules:

You may select who your opponents are. This change is mainly to reduce the already tedious task of choosing a map to play on.

This will allow me to put a lot of scientific and expansionist civs in the game, which will greatly speed up the techpace... :D

Darkness is right, this is great work and the thread itself a great idea which should eliminate a lot of questions (not that we're exactly hip deep in spam in this forum, but it helps!).

I too like the idea of selecting your opponents. There will be a number of different groupings I could see being used...

One question though: I know Moonsinger posted the announcement about her tool after you started this thread, but will it be legal for HOF play? I haven't used it yet, but it appears to basically be a more advanced version of Mapstat...

selecting your opponents ... that will make my games a billion times easier. personally i think that is totally abusive.

let me clarify, rather. i totally am going to abuse that in PTW by limiting the number of expansionist civs in my 20k blitz games. in conquests i think everyone will make sure their enemies are the pansy civs that have like seafaring and babysitting as their attributes.

ROP Resource Denial - Signing an ROP and using your units to block or hamper AI movement in their own territory.

Scout Resource Denial - Using a Scout or other non-military unit to block or hamper AI movement in their own territory.

These are allowed? I thought to deny a civ to connect a resource was bigtime abuse...

Aeson, is the limitation of two entries per player per level still in effect?

"Changing Laborers pre-Production Phase" -
...WTH does that mean??
Why can't I change city production squares even while I'm building something??
That is some part of micromanagement.. can someone explain to me what is that??

I can't give you a definitive answer on this one.....BUT, I think it has to do with the end-of-turn/beginning-of-next-turn actions performed within your towns/cities.

For example, you build a Temple.......the game stops and asks you what you want to build now.........you can cycle through the towns/cities screens changing the tiles the Laborers on those City Screens are working (NOT Workers) such that there is an increase in production (shield tiles) AFTER the commerce tiles have been accrued for the turn but BEFORE the shields have been accrued for the turn.

There must be an article somewhere on the site which explains this a lot better than I.

The bottom line is that if you don't cycle thru cities changing things between turns, you don't have to worry about this exploit! :)

With the addition of all the new categories, I think it will be modified to something along the lines of 2 games of any certain type.

So in a given difficulty division you can have 2 fastest conquest games, 2 fastest spaceship games, and 2 milked games. If they all happen to make the high score list, then so be it.

I phrased my question incorrectly, I did actually mean per type rather than level. :goodjob: :thanx:

thnx for the explaination, e-man.
I never would have thought of that (well, perhaps not never..)
I am now trying to break your 3250BC record on emperor...
NOT easy.

Any default world settings are allowed. You may choose the map's Size, Barbarian, Landform, Water Level, Climate, Temperature, and Age settings.

Rule Clarification: Is it acceptable to set Barbarian to none? Thanks!

Pretty sure the answer is YES! (e.g. SirPleb's last Deity HOF game was with NO Barbarians.) :)

RTFM...

No, civ-specific must be on.
Only "culturally linked start locations" and "respawn AI" is your decision in that checkbox screen..

If you add units/Civs to the game, is that not allowed?

My understanding is no Editor modding, period. Graphics mods are okay though, but unit/civ modding, no.
