HOF Rules Discussion

Aeson, in the initial post it says that changing civ's colors/names is permissible. Is that just for our civ or also the AI? Is all this possible outside the editor? I know how to change my civ's/leader name on the setup screen, but I'm not sure how to do the rest.

I don't think I'd actually do it, as I like the game much as it is, but I am curious.

Aeson, question -

Is it legal to use the mapfinder to find small domination maps when playing small/tiny or even standard for conquest..?

I thought about it - it would give me the smaller worlds.
It sounds like an abuse but I think not, since it is a random map!

Please reply,
love,
Chaim.

An idea popped in my head moments ago and I want to check on potential legality of this situation:
Initiate anarchy before getting to your target government on the tech tree and then research it during the anarchy by use of Scientists? Even if it means pulling all citizens off the fields and making them all specialists?

Aeson,

Is it ok to build the Great Library inside the heart of our empire then give it away to a far away Civ? Of course, when the time is right...like when the AIs approaching the modern age or something then taking the Great Library back by force.

I'd be shocked to find out Aeson's answer is no. I've pulled that stunt before in HOF attempts, and SirPleb was publicly planning on it in his current Sid game...

I just want to be sure about that. Base on SirPleb's idea with the Great Library, I'm thinking of building my own Great Library too then giving it away 3 turns after someone discover Theology, then wait for the AIs to reach the modern age while I prebuilding the UN. My goal is to see how fast I can achieve Diplomatic victory on Sid with as little as 3 cities.;)

Thanks Aeson!:) Now that Firaxis has officially released C3C patch 1.20 at their website, would you please say something about the rule to that matter. For example, would turnning off the "Scientific Leaders Rule" be acceptable or not? Would C3C patch 1.20 be acceptable for HoF and what setting we must use for it, etc?

@Aeson: Would it be feasible to include a Histographic Victory Condition table in the HOF?

This would be particularly appealing on smaller maps! :)

(Let's face it, a Conquest Victory on a Tiny Map at Chieftain level, for example, is a win in 8 turns if you get LUCKY with the civs' starting positions.....AND your Aztec warriors head in the right directions!?)

BTW, I read in another thread that Chieftess was attempting her first HOF Milk-Run on a tiny map at Regent level.....how can she get into the HOF, long-term, with a Milk-Run at Regent on Tiny? ;)

Answer: Histographic Victory Condition Table! :D

Yes, I think so. That would be my best guess; otherwise, it's really no point in turning off the Scientific Leaders. It will be just like old time, military leader to rush great wonder! Combinning that with SirPleb new discovery that the army can be rushed, I can't wait to give Sid another shot. It will be a lot of fun, I think.:)

Oh btw, the Radio tech has been deleted completely from the tech tree. I haven't installed version 1.20 yet, but that what I heard.

I don't know the answer, but I can think of a reason to turn off Scientific Leaders. There's less randomness with them turned off, so making it easier to compare multiple games for competitions such as GOTM (you still remember GOTM, don't you? ;)).

You mean we can't use military leader to rush Geat Wonder? Then what is the point of turning it off, especially when are NEVER going to get one on Sid anyway (considering the fact that we are usually behide in tech).

Hi Aeson,

It seems that I was wrong about turning off the Scientific Great Leader. Basically, it does nothing except to disable the Scientific Leader all together. Here is some of the answer to that question:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83734

In this case, there is really no point in turning it off.

Is it okay to continue C3C 1.15 games under 1.20/1.22 or do I need to play under a 1.15 install?

Seems fine to me boogaboo. Just cuts out a lot of clicking.

Games need to be played entirely under one patch version. Too many problems can result from switching versions mid-game and if a patch version ever needs to be seperated from others for comparison purposes multi-patch games won't be able to be categorized properly.
