Is is legal to declare war on someone but not actually attack them just so you can mobilize?

Oh dear, seems like DaveMcW is going to outscore us all. :(
Stop playing unless you want us all to give up before trying. :D

SIMPLE GPT EXPLOIT Example:
1. You make a gift to an AI's last city for the max Gpt of 999999.
2. The next turn your money goes to zero and if not playing at Chieftain level you lose a building or unit....AND the AI gets 999999!
3. Same turn, you take the Ai's city and pick up a cool Million Bucks.....it's like winning the Lottery! :groucho:
(AND, if you want a few more Million Bucks, then just wait a few turns before taking the city! )

AND, one more question for Aeson (re Sid).....BUT, this one I'm gonna submit on the HOF Submissions Page...when I get done with the Sid game I'm playing! ;)

Never tried it, does it work?

I don't think this would be allowed as it's creating gold from thin air. Taking advantage of an AI which doesn't properly evaluate trades is much different than taking advantage of game mechanics to create gold, or in the case of the mobilization exploit, production. This type of thing really isn't any different than hex editing and giving yourself the gold IMO.

.....It's definitely an HOF EXPLOIT. ...it's a BUG really! ;)

YES, it DOES work on PTW (AND presumably Vanilla Civ)!!

The Good News is: Firaxis fixed the problem in C3C. :goodjob:
(In C3C, it calculates the max Gpt you can afford, no matter how much you try and gift!)

:hmm: The jungle drums are working well - Dianthus alerted me to this for the GOTM => we'll ban it there too, so thatnks for publicising it :)

<plug> @E-man: I see in your sig you are mentioning your GOTM successes - wanna come teach the new young upstarts how its really played ;)

That goes for the rest of you HOF-ers!
</plug>

Thanks for the kind words, ainwood.
The GOTM is a BRILLIANT competition, AND is administered BRILLIANTLY.....just like the HOF!! :goodjob: :goodjob:

Unlike some of the strong players (Moonsinger & SirPleb immediately come to mind) who can polish off the GOTM in a couple of weeks and then return to their annotated HOF game, it takes me about 3+ months for a Milked, Huge Map HOF game.....AND, that ALSO means no time for other Civ games!

BUT, with regards to returning to GOTM play (which I miss a lot, let me tell you!)....... if I may quote from the Governor Of California (Alias The Terminator): I'LL BE BACK! :slay:

In the meantime, ainwood, perhaps y'all can give the occasional plug for the HOF......AND, you already have the "other" requests! ;)

P.s. Don't worry about 'slug.......he's PERMANENTLY tied to the HOF Forum 24/7!
(AND, we're glad TOO!)

I don't really have anything against the GOTM, it's a great competitive avenue, in conjunction with the HOF. I do occasionally download them and tinker a few turns, but the deadline issue is a killer for me, too. :( Hopefully everyone's covered through both.

I do plan on giving the GOTM a serious effort later this year though, I just haven't seen a map I like yet. Well, that and I'm just getting started here....

There's two broadband pc's in my house and dozens at work. The simple truth is, my time away from computers is less than the gap between HOF posts quite often.

The time/deadline issue is killer for me on the GOTM too, but on second thought I could use the GOTM maps to sharpen my OCC skills.

Thanks for the invitation, Ainwood, but I don't have the time to play the GOTM (whilst making the deadlines) and playing for the HoF anymore, so I can just play one of them, and since I don't like the mods (game-wise ;) ) I choose to play the HoF.
But maybe I'll be back for a GOTM sometime... :D

Though Superslugs OCC suggestion is great!

@'slug: Wanna try to both do OCC for next months' GOTM and see who wins? :)

I've noticed a new bug in C3C 1.15b, not sure if it works in other versions. The AI will always pay for your WM, even if there isn't anything new to show. You can trade your map over and over for a set amount of gold from the AI.

'Infinite Map Trading' will not be allowed in HOF games, as you could buy anything from the AI for upfront cash and get it all back for your Map. Trading your map once per turn per AI (or once per map update that AI wouldn't have had) is ok.

I think I submitted my last Monarch game as a 1.15b version and I couldn't get the AI to buy a map unless it had changed, Of course they will buy every time it changes but that can get very tedious. Just after the AI moves and before you move unless something changed on your map since your last move the AI isn't interested in your map. At least that was my experience last game.

Question for milk phase on huge maps: After a city has constructed aqueduct/marketplace/hospital, is it okay to produce nothing but military units with the sole intention of disbanding them for shields in incomplete towns?
