HOF V3 - "From Here to Eternity"

Hey guys,

I very much prefer that none of the 2 aliance has the admin password...

I don't want to rub salt in the wound, but if i remind well, the allies have problem with the rules :sarcasm:

If we're keeping score, Germany first moved 3 ships more than the max 4 allowed. Then the minor axis figured it would be ok to attack with anything. Of course the infractions were dealt with.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. :D

I undestand this as the message apears when launching Civ III, not after loading...

This not seems to bug because you've forgot your password,
but just because files are not well instaled... Erase HOF3 forlder, and reinstall...

And for the biq file, it is not necessary to load the game, it's just usefull to lauch a new game ;)

So... try to reinstall the good files :

I don't know if i'm allowed to give that link ?
if not i will erase it

Muzbang:
You are right, It is not good for either side to have the admin password.
So Elephantium if you can't get the saved turn turn to open, send the save
to me along with you preference for a new password and a brief outline of what
your plans are for the M. Allies and I will play the turn for you.

Eric; let him a while to try to reinstall, i'm pretty sure it's the reason why he can't play.

Eric; let him a while to try to reinstall, i'm pretty sure it's the reason why he can't play.

I opened up the Japanese Dec turn just to test the Admin password.
It works!

Now it would seem the Japanese did not follow the pre-turn rules.
The subs which were not allowed to move at all were not in their
start positions. Same goes for the warships which started in the
port of Saigon, which was empty of warships. What give's here?

Even worse the Pearl Harbor strike force moved their full movement,
instead of the allowed 4 tiles.

Ho my bad, i may not have well interpreted the rules :

Ships which start the turn at sea may move up to 4 tiles.

I really thought it wasn't aimed to Japan because of the previous :

Japanese transports and invasion fleets can move their full movement.

My pearl Harbor fleet is not my invasion fleet

For subs, same interpretation....

So... my mistakes were strongly worse than the allies ones :hammer2:

Sent save and password for Minor Allies to Eric, pls reset a new password, ty, must have changed pass in last sec to a different one and can´t remember...

/facepalm

I'll leave it up to the Allies as to wether they want to
continue from here or re-start the game. If we continue
the penalty against the Minor Allies would be cancelled
and the Japenese would suffer some kind of penalty.

continue

I will formulate a proposal with the other allied players.

@ Allies- will post this on our private website. Hopefully we can resolve this today.

edit- the proposal has been posted for review and comment.

I think the proposal I've seen from M60 is pretty decent with a historical basis. So I am for moving on while adopting the proposal which I'm sure M60 will be posting once he's heard from the rest of the Allies.

And hopefully E solves his load issues too! Cheers!

The preturn took my an hour and the first real turn like 4 hours. I can't afford replaying all that...! Please continue and hand out whatever penalties you deem fair...
(And it looks like almost every player has done something wrong here... :crazyeye:, so even it out a bit and let's get on.)

what is the Japan invasion fleet ?

Muzbang:
Invasion fleet units got renamed as "convoys" in the transistion from
Hof V2 to V3. So the units that are allowed full movement on the
preturn are Japanese transports, fast transports and convoys.

I would propose this as the penalty for Japan:

All Japanese submarines currently east of Pearl Harbor may not move for the January 1942 turn.

All Japanese surface ships that were part of Nagumo's task force or departed Truk as part of their attack on US forces south of Pearl Harbor must immediately move to a Japanese base of their choosing "for refueling." A base is defined as a city under Japanese control as of December 1941. Once a ship has "refueled", that is reached their base, it is free of all penalties and may continue to use its movement as Japan desires.

Japan must choose the most direct route when moving ships to the base. It may only engage in combat while enroute to the base if an Allied unit is spotted in the course of movement.

Muzbang will notify Eric A by PM prior to starting his January 1942 turn a list of any and all impacted ships, and their destination base.

While enroute to the base, Japanese carrier-based fighters may fly defensive CAP. They may not employ dive bombers or torpedo bombers should an allied warship be spotted. Their aviation fuel is considered expended by the December 41 attack.

Any questions as to which Japanese surface ships are impacted by this must be addressed prior to Japans next turn.

Agree on the penalties that M60 states, since Japan inflicted a lot fo damage that we couldn´t avoid, that is the mininum for compensation.

Ok for this

But :

All Japanese surface ships that were part of Nagumo's task force or departed Truk as part of their attack on US forces south of Pearl Harbor must immediately move to a Japanese base of their choosing "for refueling." A base is defined as a city under Japanese control as of December 1941. Is much more than compensation ...

If i must send back home all my pacific fleet; i will loose 2-3 turn to come back to Japan... and another 2-3 turn to go Pearl harbor

1turn of move abused from me, ok, but 5 penalty turn (because those boats won't be able to do anything else but sailing to a port....)

Those ships have moved, to their full movement, instead of 4 tiles...
The attack of US navy south of pearl harbor was also possible if i respected the 4 tile rule...... so i've not won a lot by moving them, but it's right that i need penalty to compensate.
Juste make a fair penalty.

For example : next turn those pearl harbour boats only move 4 tiles to compensate.

For planes, this is the same, if i respected the rule, i would have been able to bombard all US Ships too... so once again, compensation is too heavy.

I insist on this point because on the pearl harbor great battle, i would i've been able to sinks (in the same way) all this boats without my mistakes, as US ships would have been on their range with 4-tiles move.

I feel like it would be really better to restart, as now rules are clear for anybody.

Muz, you wouldn't need to send your fleets all the way back to Japan; Kwajalein or Truk would do, if I understand the proposal correctly.

Personally, I don't much care if we restart or continue, but I'm not the one who sunk hours and hours into their first two turns already!
