Im from Finland so i havent got my civ4 yet, anyways
I read that when you get some religion tech your city will turn to Holy city of that religion. Or do i get holy city when i declare state religion? And if i change my state religion what happens to holy cities from different religion that are under my control, do they keep spreading that old religion?

once you discover a religion, and you're the first, one of your cities is chosen (by the comp) to become the Holy city of that religion. Once you declare state religion, the others religions that were already existing still exist. It doesn't change a thing. They will still spread. There is one possibility, though, by choosing carefully your religious status of your nation in the civics, one of them allows a state religion and prevents the other religions from spreading. you'll have to have discovered it first to use that.

Yeah, if you choose "Theocracy" then religions other than your state religion can't spread. I don't know yet if this means missionaries from other civs can't do their thing, but you could always cut that off by closing your borders.

Personally though, I like "Organized Religion", since the 25% build speed bonus is a more tangible benefit - since there is no penalty for other religions in your cities, I see the no spread of other religions thing as mostly cosmetic. Of course, the +2 xp bonus with Theocracy is nothing to sneeze at either.

Theocracy's 2 xp, plus the Pentagon (+2 xp in all cities), plus West Point (+4 xp in that city, but you have to get a unit to survive to level 5...), plus Vassalage's 2xp, plus the +4 xp from Barracks. Add in Police State's speeded production and reduced war weariness... Even without the West Point, you've got three promotions right there. And with it, you're three xp away from a fourth promotion.

Let's just say you can open up a can of whoopie on the enemy.

I'd probably found West Point in a port city, so it can be used for ships, aircraft, and ground units.

What's very amusing is having a city be the Holy City for multiple religions. I've had hinduism, Christianity and islam founded all in the same city.

if u play MP games having theocracy might help u prevent the other players from gaining gold for each city they add their religion to.
In the end it all comes to gold.

Not unrealistic though. Three faiths consider Jerusalem to be one of their Holy CIties.
