Honorable Victory SG

That does make sense. But I like to have contingency plans.

I think my suggestions stand well even if we plan to let our great scientist sit for a while.

Given how many missionaries we are building getting the church of nativity still looks like a good idea. If we do not build it then we have a prophet to help with our second GA so that is fine as well. We can generate it and decide what is best later.

We need to have some army since both William and Victoria can plot wars at pleased so if we are to weak they will prefer going to war with us.

As for techs, it should not matter much that we are going for a religious victory. Unless I missed something.

I like to get some cottages and later CS. It help in case we are delayed somehow. Like an unwanted war.

I will take note of that. Even more reason to be careful.

So does Lymond have any comments on my suggestions?

Oh..the only comment really is that research and stuff is not that important now. The main thing is production and diplo. Getting SB and Vicky into Xtian and then spreading Conf to each AI. Cottages and academy are really not necessary.

We can hold off finishing AP until we get some spread if we want to make the first vote.

Definitely trade for sailing and give away any other small techs to folks. Trade for IW next turn as well. MC>Machinery is probably good for watermills. That's really all we need except for getting some techs we can just trade or give away.

I believe the goal is to end this game as quickly as possible so we can get back to Slavery :D

^ That's pretty well my understanding of where we're at.

Focus on Missionary production and hope for a bit of natural spread of the right religion into the right cities. Ensure the AIs have a principal religion (such as Christianity), spread Confucianism internally, and eventually infect Confucianism into small (ideally food poor) foreign cities.

Turn 93
Traded for sailing. Started to research mathematics.

turn 94
Geronimo demands that we stop trading with the dutch. I decline. Traded for iron working.

Need to get the day starting now. Will play more turns later today.

Forgot to mention that Confuism spread to Victoria. We will need more christians there to convert her away.

turn 95
Geronimo demands Priesthood. I accept. I guess Geronimo likes to demand .
Met Napoleon in Spanish lands. We have met all AIs now.
Victoria converted to Confuism.

turn 103
Geronimo converts to christianity.

Thanks for the turnset - bugger of a thing that Confucianism ended up in London ... at least we'll know who our competitor will be if we're still going with 'Plan A'.

Possibly we might need to consider gifting an infected city to Joao (?).

Roster:
DrZomboss (Retired)
pigswill
Folket
lymond << Up
Cam << On Deck

Yes, I have built a settler that is planed to be gifted to Joao.

Got it...good idea on settler/mish gifts...probably do want to settle on that island for iron though. Actually 2 cities could go there but not really needed.

I'll try to play tonight or tomorrow. Good job, Folket

I think we can easily get Vicky out of Conf...there's also other religion that may be founded which is good.

Ok..

Lookin' good...plan

I prefer new chariot in Eridu now before more Xtian mishes...we have another chop there and plenty of production but I want an escort for settler and mish to Joao. Need current chariot to move W to scout out Joao land and find his cap for optimal gift city.

Lagash on warrior now which I want to send in galley to island to spawnbust. Once galley finishes, Kish will start a settler for that island.

I'd like to trade Vicky CoL for Mona now. Not too worried about tech monopolies in this game and more worried about diplos..we need to build her up so we can switch her. Furthermore, Monarchy may start to open up some Fave Civic views.

Nap and Iz don't like each other but I'd still like to start gifting them these small techs. IW is old news. We may get a diplo hit now but that will fade. Some AI only need 7 techs for dipo bonus. We should gift trade techs whenever we feel it is feasible. I'd like to trade Maths as well to some next turn.

Uruk can probably start a gran there now. Good with happiness coming soon.

Tech > MC to Machinery probably and look for Calendar trade obviously. We really don't need much more than that though, so everything is gravy. CS obvious too.

Oh..Lagash may build worker after warrior

also we really don't need many xtian mishes anymore..just enough to keep xtian AIs xtian. We could go settler/mish gift to the 3 remaining AIs to ensure spreads since such a distance. In that case, settler in Uruk good too.

Ha..sorry..but I took the liberty of finishing the game. I originally figured we'd get the victory on the second AP vote which would push things a bit longer, but Vicky several turns in made a request that changed things...so I pushed toward victory as I knew it could be close if things go perfectly

Original idea was to send settlers and mishes to the remaining 3 Ais which I put into effect and hold off AP until the right time.

First off we get this event for Willie..didn't have the gold for the better option, but took the +1. This would strangely pay off for us.

Spoiler :

Then Vicky makes this request which changed my plan. So I check the movements and decided to finish AP this turn. Kick off GA, ofc, and switch to Conf. Joao settler mish had plenty of time to plant in place (did not get liberation for some reason). However, I had to just get the other Conf mish to Nap and Izzy. Nap conf was easy but Izzy's had some way to go.

Interestingly, I was gifting away techs left a right and after AP I gave away Theo as well, not thinking. Izzy switched to Theo (not her usually fave civic, ofc), but probably cause she was plotting. So I had to gift the Conf mish which she literally moved one turn and settled on the turn of the vote (I'm talking turn 0). I was sweating cause I was not sure that would trip the RV vote..it did (good to note)

Spoiler :

the vote: What's interesting is that Willie actually voted for us. I think some will vote at Pleased, but not always. Well, his votes were the deciding ones.

I had planned to switch to Conf by the way, but had to switch back to Xtian at the soonest turn. Vicky switch to Xtian not long after requesting us to go Conf, simply as we bombarded her cities with xtian. I figured it better to get the Xtian diplo points at that point. Switching to Conf would not have worked at all.

You can switch to Conf on the turn of the vote (after voting) and get Full Member votes, but was 1 turn from being able to do that.

Vicky and Geronimo were Friendly. (Geronimo had HR are fave civic..only one we ever found out) Will at Pleased

Spoiler :

Victory screen

Spoiler :

anyway, this bad boy is over. Let's look forward to a game enjoying the joys of Slavery, although I'm always open to some odd rules.

I had 2 settlers roaming around that I never used

No clues who the AIs are. Cam can get us that info, but I guess we can take guesses

Alrighty then ... game over!

Well done all - but lymond, thanks in particular for the strategic input.

What a lovely bunch (well ... mostly) ...

The one A.I. that I didn't expect to see was Isabella - usually spamming Missionaries 'left-right-and-centre'. I'm surprised Hinduism wasn't far more pervasive.

The AI will vote on you at +8 including hidden modifiers.

It seems like Isabella has the religion in two cities. Did you gift her two missionaries? And if you were worried about the vote you could have gifted Williiam an other city.

Still great played. Well planed and executed.

I'm kinda sad we win so fast. Monarch without slavery sounds fun to me.

So Izzy was on the map..just in a Portuguese disguise.

We did a game with Rolo (wow..he's been gone a long time now) with no slavery once where the focus was watermills and workshops asap. We could try that again.
