Now this is diplomacy at its worst!!! Is there a hot key I can press?

Damn, there is a bug folder. Sorry.

Just thought I would give an update:
-I checked my autosaves and fortunately, I found a 1580 BC save when this picture is in 1560 BC. But then, like clockwork, it happened again, but I remembered to save. So if you want me to upload the save, just explain how to do so.

Are you sure you've installed the mod correctly? It seems like you're having a lot of problems which haven't been reported before - perhaps reinstalling civ, patching it, and re-downloading and reinstalling the mod will help your issues?

Oh, I'll try. I just thought I had a black cloud over my head. I'll wait 'til the mid-February update. You are sort of like my guardian angel, Bob.

Hi ZachScape!

Were you able to solve this problem? I have the same, even after Civ reinstall. :sad:

Hasn't happened again, but I still have others. I hope it will able to be fixed when jdog and Glider release the update. I still can't contact anybody, and the reason it hasn't happened again is because the only person besides me who has writing is Toku. I put on minor civs, but I'm not sure if playing this game is worth the bugs. I love the Rev feature, hate the bugs.

@Zach
Stay cool, I just need a little bit more information. Have you tried without minor civs? That would be a good idea.

Here is what I would like you to do:
Download just Revolutions not RevolutionDCM and see if that works for you on standard options. Don't play with Start of Minors. That's an advanced option I wouldn't bother with for the moment.

A quick way to get through to a situation in the game you are interested in (like diplomacy) is to use the CTRL-SHIFT-X autoplay feature. Autoplay through 100 turns or so and see if you can then conduct diplomacy either on Revolutions or RevolutionDCM but always standard options.

Once I can establish whether the problem is Revolutions or RevolutionDCM, we can then go to the next step of using python logs and/or saves to help us narrow the problem down further. Remember that I am at least 17 hours out of sync with north America so turn around times can be slow.

Stay cool! We will sort it.
Cheers.

Where were you? I already held an axeman to Pacal's head! I figured who needs a diplomat/
But I answered the question on the other thread. Thanks for sticking with me Glider.

Well, it seems like the exactly the same bug reported here:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=7575052&postcount=670

I am not sure if that was fixed by phungus420 or not.

I used the latest revdcm from svn repo and I have this empty trade screen bug (in this case I can just hit Esc). However, sometimes when AI makes a demand there are options to answer, however, clicking on them does not do anything. Also, the Esc does not work in this case, so the only way to get out is to terminate the game in the Task Manager. This bug is reproducible, i.e. it essentially stops the game from going on.

It happens only with RevDCM :( , other mods (Revolution, for example) are fine.

The savegame when Montezuma makes a demand in few turns is attached.

Thank you in advance.

I couldn't fix it, and it never happened to me, I could navigate through diplo fine from saved games. I'm nearly positive this is caused by BUG.

@Chem1
Thanks for chasing it up with so much detail. Looks like you have effectively become a beta tester for the latest version in development. Beta testing is good and helpful but needs concrete feedback like you have done otherwise none at all.

I downloaded your save but could not reproduce the problem. I just shift-enter and wait for AI demands. First came Kublai, no bugs. Few turns later comes Monte to make a demand, no bug! I cannot reproduce it. Do you know how to capture errors with the Python error logs? Turn python error logging on in CivilizationIV.ini:

; Set to 1 for no python exception popups
HidePythonExceptions = 1

; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 1

If you retry your save and there is a problem, you may find the python error log contains valuable information for me. That log is saved by the game in /beyond the sword/Logs and is called PythonErr.log.

@Phungus
I think you are on the money Phungus about the problem being BUG. You are not having any problem either....Zappara mentioned at the RevDCM forum a little while ago that BUG does have problems on some machines not others:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=241796&page=62

I don't have the time to chase up BUG problems at the moment. If someone could tell me if BUG has had a decent update since the BUG that is in RevDCM097 (official release) I could merge that into the development version and see how it goes.

Cheers.

This happened when Montezuma made a demand in the save posted above.

The full log is also attached.

I hope it can help :rolleyes:

@Chem
Thanks for your effort Chem! I think if you delete autolog.ini it should be fixed. Give it a go! You will find it at:

/MODS/RevolutionDCM/Autolog.ini

Make sure the game isn't running first. Totally shutdown BTS. Delete the autolog and restart. This should regenerate a new autolog.ini and the problem might then be fixed. Let us know how you go.

Cheers.

Wow! It did the job! Such a simple thing fixed it!

Many thanks, glider1! :crazyeye:

@Chem
Good news. Keep up the good work finding bugs. The underlying "moto" of civ modding is to find bugs and squash them. This is simply because civ games can last weeks, and we do not want the game to go down after 50 hours of play.

@Zapp
Thanks for keeping an eye out on BUG. It's a huge forum and I cannot spend much time on it. The BUG code is truly a great achievement. There is a lot of underlying quality and depth to the code that is only revealed when you look under the hood and stare at the engine. It's a very impressive job they have done on private time.

In other words, keep us posted on any important news on BUG.
Cheers.

3.6.1 is supposedly coming out with a .dll BUG version, which will be superior.
