Horrible savegame Transfer Speeds in multiplayer Loading

when i'm playing in direct ip mode with a friend of mine (haven't tried any other MP form), and one is getting the savegame from the other when logging in, this generally takes up to 4 minutes for a 630kB file.. can anyone tell me why this has to be the case? i'm on a 10/10 MBit connection, and he's on 100/100 MBit, so i doubt it's that what causes the game to transfer at about 2kB/s, but something seems to.. both have broadband selected as conn. type, though that doesn't seem to do much either way..
can anyone please tell me why this is necessary?


further 2 minor problems/quirks:

when you've built any type of electricity producing building, it still leaves all the other buildings as choices (unlike in civ 2/3, where the others would disappear if electricity was already supplied or whatever it was used for there).. this includes when you've already got the 3 gorges Dam built on the same continent.. would it be possible to fix this?

great library doesn't appear to work when playing as a team (in MP or SP) vs. the rest, nor does The Internet
