I've read in some of the mods and maps that you can edit the game to allow cities to be built on mountains, and various other game changes...how do you do this? Can it only be done in the editor and then saved as a map/scenario?

You'd think you could make changes like that in the preferences or rules screens.

Also, while I'm posting, does anyone know if there is a map out there that has a ton of resources, luxuries, and bonus resources? Basically a Monty Haul map?

I'm also looking for more island hop type maps, but sensible...not just thrown together.

You answered your own question. Use the editor. It isn't hard, and it opens up a lot more options.

Its probably not allowed in the standard game since it would give a huge defensive bonus especially if the city was size 12 and above...

yeah, put a fortified spearmen ina size 13 city on a mountain surounded by rivers and no tank could stand to be on the same continet without exploding :spear:

i think that is fair, i do it on all of my maps, but i get frusterated whenever an enemy does it. use the editor

Unit defense value would be 350% of its normal stats - not impossible to beat, even for a Mech Infantry.

How about an army of Mech. Infantry? If you didn't change or add any units, and didn't use any sort of bombardment, I wonder how many tanks it would take to destroy it...

its easy ;)

But somewhat unbalancing especially if a lot of border cities happen to be built on mountains so that you can just fortify and wait... Obviously artillary would help a human player but the AI would probably struggle.
