hi all

in the NES forum (under Strories under civ3) i recently encountered the problem that we cant delete our own forums.

is there a reason for that? its clearly a feature that is for some reason disabled.
we use threads to organize the game (especialy the new one) and sometime you just REALY want to have someone delete a post that is screwing up your organizational system, but they cant...
would appreciate if someone told me how to be allowed to delete my own posts (if you can give me permision to delete other peoples i swear i wont abuse it :D)

another question

with the vB codes i can make a picture be a hyperlink but i cant figure out how to get floatover text over the image.
is there a way to do it?
Code:
ignore the quote marks, they are just so it shows the commands
['URL=hyperlink]['IMG]location of image['/IMG]['/URL]
makes a picture to hyperlink, but what do i need to add inorder to give it a float over text like "this will take you to there"

I believe this partly is because there was/could be a major problem of hotshots deleting entire threads this way accidentally or out of spite, so it was disabled.

Becka, that is my understanding, also.

I don't believe this can be done with VB code. All images of that type I have seen, the text was embedded in the image.

oh.
well i guess that makes sense then. that would be kind of evil if someone deleted a 100 post thread.
couldnt they just make it so threads cant be deleted but the replies can. so you cant delete the first post but any other is fine.
between the double posts and the Q and A we have in our games we could save ALOT of space on the servers that is being wasted now.
think ill go read the 'how to become a mod' thread to see if thats an option for me.

thanks Becka and Padma

well, i read the whole "how do i become a MOD?" thread and i see that its too big of a longshot for me. not to mention i dont want the resposibility.
so a question to the mods:
if i send you a PM or email that says:
"please press these links when you're logged in to CFC to delete some of my posts that i realy want gone"
would you guys do it? :D

i can easily do all (i think its all) the work for you, get the link that deletes the post. all you'd have to do is press it and i dont know if there's some sort of a confirmation there or something.

I will delete this post for a test.... I think. If you never see this post, let me know, LOL!!!!

EDIT: results are in!! NOPE!!!! You definitely CANNOT delete your own posts, at least at this time. Here is what you get:

OK, now my prior post is quoted, so let's see if I can delete the whole thing.

I am already sure I can't delete a thread... gotta get a mod to help with that :).

Roddy, you can just click on 'report this post to a moderator' and ask them to delete the post for you, of course stating the reason why. Whether they will do it is up to them but you can be sure, they're aware of it.

Maybe you shld PM either gonzo or hippo (the Civ3 mods) to seek their opinion. ;)
