sometimes on deity difficulty one AI runs away with tech. If it's not an AI at this point it's usually the human player dominating all. If you have such a situation activate flexible difficulty maybe or start a new game on deity and try to catch up better and more agressively ;-)

Its not called deity for no reason...

If you didn't lose every now and then you wouldn't feel challenged

Thanks for looking into it guys.

@DRJ

Restarting a new game is always an option, but how often do games turn one sided like that? Any settings you think could avoid that? Flexible difficulty should do it you say? Anything else?

@gcaliber

Well that surely explains why he has so much tech. If he has each and everyone of those monasteries he must have a kick ass beaker yield.

I'm talking out my ass right now but if I remember correctly, every time a civ researches a religion related tech they get a great prophet and in the case of the AI looks like most if not all of the times they use their prophet to start a religion. I rarely found more than 3 religions, but that is me other players might do it differently.

Is this not something that might need to be addressed?

If it isn't too much to ask would someone be so kind to tweak the game a tiny bit to give me a chance to at least get my empire back?

Go to BUG menu -> Caveman2Cosmos. Adjust difficulty during the game there (can also be flexible if you want to). So if AI is way ahead play some turns on settler and you should be able to catch up. Next time set limited religions at custom settings before game so AI can only find one religion in the game if you want to avoid this to happen again.

Well that works too... Lol. But I was thinking something more along the lines of using the world editor to turn my save into a scenario I would do it myself but that would spoil the fun. :P

But then... I might just do that and share it with you guys.

It used to be the other way around. Where the AI would use the GPs from a Tech that founded a Religion and the AI would use it for another Tech or to build a Wonder. So "if" the AI used the GP for founding From the Tech that Allows the Religion then it's working right for Divine Prophets Option.

I think doing limited religions is actually a game balancing feature, allows AI to get religion but also use their GP's for other things.

2 different subjects here: GP usage with DP On and then using (or not) Limited Religions.

When Limited was introduced back in the RoM heyday I would use it. But it was quirky with even the Standard BtS religions back then. When combined with Choose Religions it at one time had a bug where you could choose multiple religions one after the other. So I quit using both Limited and Choose. I personally do Not think Limited is game balancing Unless you are setting the game up with more than 15 AI. The AI still can use the GP on a Tech or Wonder but it's supposed to be weighted that the GP you get from a tech that allows a religion to be found "should" be weighting use it to do just that, found a religion.

I use Multiple Religions from the BUG Option screens and the Standard BtS religion founding method. I find the AI does it's fair share of founding most of the time. But like any game all things are possible. Last game I played I founded 10 religions. Current game I'm hard pressed to get 4. And every AI I've met has founded at least 1. Most have founded several. There are 8 AI in this game, which is plenty of opponents on a Giant Fractal Map. And they are not all little cream puff 3 city empires that you get with loads of AI in a game (again personal opinion).

JosEPh :)

That last depends on the size of the map too Joseph. I've got 15 AI in my current Gigantic Map, and not a one of those initial 15 have less than 8 cities, most above 15, while I have managed to get myself 7 cities only.

Come to think of it this scenario might actually be one where Limited Cities could have worked well enough to avoid having a few top dogs and the rest middling about somewhere.

Cheers

I dont mind doing stuff like that for people that actually use C2C alot, just put your autosaved game here, BUT only if you use the current SVN that is, and i'd be glad to do it, that way you wont see what is going on.
