How diverse is civ6?

Other than adding port to the repetoire of dessert drinks, which was pretty good, what did Portugal do?
oh I don't know... created one of the largest sea-based empire... brought guns and tempura to Japan ( which had large role in the Japanese invasion of Korea in Imji war)... not to mention creating the largest South American nation ( Brazil)

Portugal was NOT insignificant in history. It has grown VERY weak today but in its heyday it was one of superpowers in eruope.
If you don't know importance of Portugal you don't know the history.

(I'd like Italy, but it shoudl replace Macedon being merged back into Greece).
North Macedonians & Greeks: REEEEEEEEE!

North Macedon can bother somebody else. Whatever the situation now, Antique Macedon was part of Greek Civilization, of which Alex should be a leader - pretty much the greatest greek leader, really.

There is a reason he led Greece in every single Civ, including both CivRevs, except 6

I don't know. I believe Issue with North Macedon and Greeks is the reason why they gave Alexander the great his own civ rather than leading greeks again.

Portugal's pretty much the one European civilization I think should be added at this point (I'd like Italy, but it shoudl replace Macedon being merged back into Greece).

But if we only have one civ left to add, I'd hope for the Iroquois ahead of Portugal. That said, I'd much rather have a Final Frontier Pass of some kind coming, rather than Civ VII (probably easier, too, to expand this game some more rather than launch a whole new game due to current events)

It's too bad. Both should be in the game  Portugal did have a significantly bigger impact on the world of the two though...

It's been kinda nice having this Greek overload in VI, which can make for some great games on Greek maps etc; but all n all I agree with you. Macedon wasn't prominent for long enough, not distinct enough from the Greeks to warrant their own Civ.

Maybe in game, but the most warlike Civilisations the world has ever seen would have to be the Macedon/Greeks and the Mongols. No one tops their efforts for constant war.
The Mongols send envoys before war to try avoid war, the only difference between Shaka and Gengis Khan was the size of the empire, but, Shaka was the craziest warlord ever existed in this world.

I’m with you there. Call the Civ Italy, rotate through various possible leaders. Not just Renaissance ones either: Matilda of Tuscany (Medieval) sounds like a cool option. Sometimes multiple in a have, sometimes only one.
I don't want Italy to come in this game because we don't have room for all Civs and I guess Africa and America need more space in playable civs. But, if Italy come as a Civilization it should be lead by Guissepe Garibaldi at the first time as a leader

I don't know what dessert drinks that you are talking about but they launched the European Age of Discovery and were the first global sea empire. I think those are pretty big accomplishments.

I'm pretty sure the actual issue was that people kept on complaining Alexander always lead Greece. Now people complained when they gave him a separate Macedon civ. I think the main point is they are tired of seeing him in the games, which I don't mind.

I don't care if he does lead Greece or a separate Macedon as long as he's in the game honestly. :mischief:

The best thing to do is put him in as an alternative leader for Greece.... He is too important for GREEK history to be ignored.

Alexander was king of Macedonia, an Helenic kingdom, I like the way it is in this game because give room to the Macedon kingdom, but still Europe full of Civs.
I think Civ 6 is the game with the biggest number of Europeans Civs ever.

I'd be fine with replacing Gorgo for Alexander in Civ 7 to be the militaristic Greek leader as long as we have diplomatic Pericles as well. The actual civ bonuses could focus on culture/science.

Macedon was no different from Sparta... an independent greek city-state that wasn't unified. Heck concept of Greek nationalism didn't become a thing until the 19th century as a reaction against the Ottoman Empire.

At the same time it also has the biggest number of African, Asian, Oceanian and South American civs. North America has exactly the same number as Civ 5.

No Macedon wasn't a city-state, but a separate kingdom with the capital at Pella so he's correct. Arguably the majority of regular people of Macedon were probably not Greek but nobles and aristocrats were definitely influenced by the culture of the Greek city-states that lived below them.

huh... I stand corrected... didn't they worship the same gods though?
For the most part yes, though they did have other lesser known ones.

All in all Alexander leading a separate kingdom called Macedon isn't wrong as well as him leading a civ called Greece. In fact it was his father that did conquer and unite a the Greek city-states under his empire, which then Alexander inherited it, so in that sense to me it's kind of the same thing as the possibility of Kublai leading China as well as Mongolia.

Though I don't think people would be too happy at the fact if Alexander would be a leader of both Macedon and Greece. :mischief:

I'm not happy with 5 hellenic leaders in Civilization while no Haiti in game!
2 greek, 1 macedon, 1 Egypt and 1 Byzantium, 5 hellenic leaders!

No.

While I agree 5 Hellenistic is too many at 40-50 Civs, I'm happier with that than with Haiti appearing at all.

If you are going to have a Southwest US tribe the Comanche and Comancheria are the best option.

The Comanche are a Plains tribe, not a Southwest one. These are distinct culture groups or continuum, not purely geographic designations.

They wouldn't fit for a Southwest tribe.
