why not?

@Everyone

anyone else know how to do it?

You can do it with Internet Explorer but you have to do exactly what I say.

Go to Start -> Programs -> right click on the shortcut to Internet Explorer -> select 'Properties' -> under the shortcut tab in properties, select from the 'Run' pulldown list, 'Maximized Window'.

This should solve the problem.

Another way is to:

1. Maximize the window.
2. HOLD DOWN Ctrl and WHILE HOLDING IT DOWN left-click on the X to close the window.
3. Restart the computer

Then, I might add, you need to copy the shortcut in the programs menu (the one you right clicked and did this with) and paste to your desktop or else it won't work either.

Any of that will work to get IE to open maximized, but it doesn't make new windows launched from w/in IE to open maxed.

Thanks! I wish I could get windows launched from web pages to open maxed.....

Thanks for your help!

Mine opens maxed all the time. Just use the same method:

1. Close all other windows.
2. Maximize the window.
3. HOLD DOWN Ctrl and WHILE HOLDING IT DOWN left-click on the X to close the window.
4. Now release Ctrl BUT MAKE SURE YOU RELEASE IT AFTER the program has completely closed.
4. Restart the computer.

The way cierdan just described didn't work for me.

But if you 'maximize' the window by dragging it to fill the screen instead of clicking the 'maximize' button, it works as described.

Tricky little computer thingy . . . :hammer:

I have already done the "fake" maximize technique. IE opens maximized but when it opens a new window its always minimized. [pissed] Its so annoying! Guess I will just learn to deal with it.....

Maybe I don't understand the problem then. What's the practical difference between a maximized window and a window that fills the whole screen?

Not much. I think you understand my question. I am just weird. :p

Just keep trying variations of my method and you will get it to work. I know because I've gotten it to work. I can't say exactly what I did but after enough fiddling around it worked.

Thats encouraging. :) It will probably take me years and then I will forget how I did it and wont be able to get it to do it again.
