How do I play DOOM now that I've downloaded it?

I downloaded DOOM and DOOM II as torrents and have shortcuts to them on my desktop but I still don't know how to play them. If I open DOOM 2 I get a window up named "Dark55's SFX Archive." It gives me the options to "extract," or "close." If I extract, a progress bar fills within about a minute, but when it fills nothing happens except a message in the windoe says "completed succsessfully."

Pretty much the same thing happens when I open doom 1 too.

So how do I play these games?

It sounds like it's a self-extract. Where does it say it extracts to? The files will be in that location.
