We all know that the AI's will attack you rather sooner than later but I was wondering how the AI 'assess' that you are weak or not? Do they just know judging by your standing in the scorelist without ever having seen your units? Or do they first have to see your territory and see how many units you have?

Power graph...

They cheat! They don't even need a single :espionage:, they just ask HumanTeam.getDefensivePower()...

I was under the impression the AI civs won't do that. They go by power rating, and if you have a big enough EP lead on em so they dont see your power graph, they will try to scout your land.

Barbs on the other hand are omniscient; on higher levels if a nearby AI gets the uprising event, the horde will most likely head for your lands instead (because your power will be lower than the AI's).

I thought barbs ignored power and just went for a random person, usually whoever is closer. Since barbs are already at war with the world and all...

I dont see how power makes any difference. I've seen barb warriors attack machine-guns.

sounds like free xp

still up to 10 free xp :P ...

I've often seen the AI put early forts down in the middle of nowhere. No choke point etc; just in no mans land. I'm thinking "what's the point, there's nothing there but desert (or tundra/ice), there's no opposition to even defend against?"

....much later on Oil is revealed. And it appears under all the forts!

....what a coincidence, not! :scan:

Perhaps they got the oil event?

There's an event where some wiseguys find a new source of "lamp burning oil" and all oil on the map is reveled to you. Or maybe it's just in your cultural borders... not sure. But you see oil.

That 'oil event' must happen every game for multiple AI's in my experience.
And if that's true, there must also be an event for Coal and Uranium as well judging by what I'm seeing on a regular basis?! :scan:
