How do you block a Twitter follower?

I only have a couple of people I care about on Twitter. But from time to time someone I don't know shows up and follows me. How do I delete them from my list?

click followers on the top right then click the cog drop down button then block

You can also click on your Settings, and check the box that says, "Protect my Tweets."

This will make it so no one can follow you unless you specifically allow them. (You get an email when someone asks to follow you, and then you can either accept or deny them) It also makes it so your tweets won't be in the public timeline, so only your followers can see your tweets.
