What folder or folders does it read from and what is the protocol that it uses if it reads from more than just the map folder? It would help me solve some problems if someone knows the answer to these questions. Thanks

Do you mean custom maps, maps saved out of the game, or map scripts?

Custom Maps that have a scenario attached.

I think there's a certain directory where scenarios are stored in the Civ5 folder, and I think some of them have maps. On my my computer the directory is:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\assets\DLC\Expansion\Scenarios.

And then look in the scenario folders for their respective map files, which should have a '.Civ5map' file extension. The directory may be slightly different on your computer, though.

I truly appreciate your courtesy and promptness ! This has to help me. I have 3 of the same map showing up(A map that I totally deleted) and others that I have tweaked that do not. I originally thought the reading came directly from my Civ 5 program but, after trial and error knew their had to be another source the game was reading. Why it is not reading them from my map files into Steam is yet another thing I will tackle. If I fail I shall return as MacArthur said !

It was a NO GO. Not a one of them appeared anywhere on Steam. Neither the ones which are working and in the game, the ones that shouldn't be on there, nor the others that should. The DLC file was blank on my computer and one scenario showed up that came with Steam. I checked in every file on Steam and found nothing.I found the map section under assets and it was empty. So, The question becomes how can it be reading from Steam if nothing is there for it to read???? I think what I am working with are just map files but, none of any type show up on Steam. How then is a map still showing up as 3 maps when I totally deleted it from my computer and it is not on Steam ???A real conundrum.

Through a lot of trial and error I discovered that it actually does read them from the Civ5 Maps folder. The reason I had 3 deleted ones appearing and one not appearing was that I had not changed the name in WB. So, everytime I tried to put an update in somewhere it appeared as another of the older map. A total idiot I am....thanks again for your taking the time to respond. It really helped me to eliminate a lot to find the GOLD !!! :)

You're welcome. Glad you got found out what you needed, and hope I was some help to you.

You are welcome as well. To clarify :It reads maps from the regular game map folder...NOT the one in Steam. Hope this helps someone else !!!!!
