How easy would it be for me to fire a machine gun while on holiday in the US?

Still in the top 200!!
I'm off to Las Vegas in a month and would like to have a go at firing a machine gun. The bigger the better!

Are there any restrictions on this sort of thing for non-residents? Or non-members of gun clubs?

Over here find a gun never mind firing it is pretty tricky.

As long as you're renting and not buying, it would just be a matter of having valid identification (passport should work) and being over 18 or 21 (depending on the rules of the range you attend) to shoot rifle, pistol, or "Class III" fully-automatic firearms. And money, too - if you're shooting full-auto expect to spend at least $100.

I'm pretty sure Vegas has some public rent-firearm ranges nearby, though I don't know of any offhand - if you have trouble finding a range let me know.

Money's no problem and I'm way over 21 so I'll be blasting away no problem. If I can find somewhere - are there any pitfalls to choosing a gun club? Anything I should look out for?

There probably isn't more than one or two to choose from that rent Class-III to the public within an hour or two driving distance of Las Vegas. The pitfall is simply safety/service. You want one where they'll go over the operation of the firearm with you in advance, ensure you understand gun safety (always keep it pointed in a safe direction, assume it is always loaded, keep your finger off the trigger unless you're actually prepared to shoot), and keep an eye on you while you're shooting to make sure you stay safe.

Rodgers,
I have once explaiend firing a gun here in The Hague is no problem at a gun-club. Upto a cool shotgun is fine.
Machine guns are a different story though.
I would be surprised if you couldn't find a decent club in Engerland, just to get used to it.

Anyway, I would try and find a machine gun too. Seems like fun.

God, I once visited Texas and didn't visit a gun club :( .

Well, over here I have fired single shot rifles and a shotgun but handguns are now totally illegal and only the army have access to automatics. The crazy Yanks will have to indulge my Schwartenegger fantasies for me ;)

I hope you're better with guns than you are with computers or you'll have a short marriage and a very young (but wealthy) widow.

*shoots computer*

That'll teach him! :p

Seeing as how this is a 64 bit Uzi and will probably blow your memory completely away just ask yourself one question, do I feel lucky. Well do ya, punk?

Thanks for the advice, but I'm pretty sure it is America-only for the automatic weapons. No chance of getting near one here!

Even comes with a discount coupon! Since this took me less than 30 seconds to find on Google, I'd bet there are plenty more like it. It's great to see a Brit with an American love of automatic weapons!

Yopu couldnt just settle for driving an automatic, could you?

 Well, at least this way, he can post pictures of his experience.

If you're ever in Cambodia, for very little money at a shooting range you can not only fire an AK-47, but even hurl grenades at targets. Something to consider, if you're into that sort of thing...

And in Vietnam for just a few dollars you can actually use equipment from the famous conflict, including abandoned american tanks.
