What is the longest game played. Early on I went into the 2050 with a Warlord game.

I guess my question is has anyone ever pushed the limits on how long a game can go. 3000AD? 4000AD? 10000AD?

my games usually start ending when i get cav and ends after i get tank. by the time you reach year 3000AD, you could have played and finished another 2 new games.

Really General? You know if you open your brain for a sec you would also realize that all games must have a victor by 2050.

It never fails that when you ask a question like this somebody has to come back with the standard "Well I wouldn't know because I kill everyone by the time I get to the IA. Cause I’m such a badass and I couldn’t fathom a victory condition other than domination."

I wanted to know if anyone had tried to milk the game out over the millennia and how far they had gotten. Or if the game has a limit.

What's up with the hostility? :)
I usually win by diplomacy around 1600 AD. So I would not know either! :p
The only reason I go for diplo though is exactly because I don't want to drag the game for too long. I did however play one game up to 2050 AD and stopped playing since it got boring by that time.

I started my first edited game when I got Civilization III back in 2001. It was a 290 by 290 map with alot of civs. Its 2005 now and even though I beat it nearly 4 years ago, I'm still playing it off and on.

Its aroun 4500 AD so I had to have played over 2,000 turns i think.

My goal is to have every civilization conquered by somewhere by 2010.

Thank you Bugfatty300, that is the interesting and remarkable type of response I was looking for.

Not every question posed on this forum is an invitation for someone to brag about how quickly they dominate a game.

The hostility was because, yet again, we have another off topic reply to a question posed on this forum. I didn't ask, "How soon do your games start ending?" All of us can go to the HOF and see whom the best and fastest is.

The longest I ever played was utill 2300AD, then I got bored because the AI kept attacking me so I just nuked every city on the planet and sent in marines on mop up.

I can understand that... I actually would play a longer game than usual if there were some future technologies, units and buildings available... I wonder if anyone has created a mod like that? That would definately keep me interested for much longer...

I don't have any time goal, I play until I feel I'm beyond losing, whether the victory conditions are met or not. By this point the game is not a challenge anymore so I start a new one :smug:

I start getting bored with it after 2100. I think the AI falls asleep.
I usually fall asleep before that

I think I saw a mod like that in the forum once. Something like "Far Horizons". Sounds like a good sugestion for CIV 4. We could plan out how things could be some day. Maybe some techs like "Terrorism" and "Counter Terrorism", or "Unified Goverments" that would allow you to strike a dael with another civ that you have good realations with to morph the two together like the European Union. "Globalization" to share comerce points between civs.

None of these are real good ideas but it seams like CIV needs to work on making the end game more worth while. The're lots smaterer than me is.
